His work focuses on the development of novel biologics, and in particular monoclonal antibodies, blockbuster agents, which are among the fastest growing class of drugs in the pharmaceutical sector. Christ holds degrees from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) and from Cambridge University, where he trained with British biotechnology pioneer Sir Gregory Winter at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB). At the Garvan Institute since 2007, his worked has attracted many honours and awards, including Fellow of Trinity College (Cambridge University) and an NHMRC excellence award.
