Ruchira Agrawalwww.rightaudiencemarketing.com
It’s that time of the year again
People between October-December
• Feel blessed for what they have and want to share
• Feel generous and want to give more than usual
• Start planning their tax-deductions for the current year and finances for the new year
For your Cause, this means a busy time
Online Fundraising is growing
Year end statistics
According to Network for Good, 30-40% of annual income is received by organizations in last few weeks of the year
So while you use multi-channels for your donations
• Emails
• E-newsletters
• Fundraising Events
• Social media
• Direct mail
• Campaigns
Do you remember to get your website ready for holiday giving?
Your Website
• Is your home on the internet
• A place that your donors and supporters visit especially this time of the year
• It is also the place that is commonly forgotten by organizations and shouldn’t be
#1 - Who Are You And What Do You Do?
Make sure your logo, tagline, mission statement, vision and your purpose are clearly described on your website
Make sure your programs, services and projects including your locations are clearly described as well
Third party donation sites aren’t as effective as your own donation pages. Try and embed them in your website and show your brand on your donation page
#2 – Why Should I Give You My Money?
• Show your new, potential and current donors the good work you have been doing. Show them numbers, how you use donations and your impact
• Show them what makes you better than other non-profits that might be doing similar work. Show them your strengths and unique value proposition
#3 – Hmmm I want to give but....
• Use emotion evoking, compelling graphics and copy to show the lives you impact
• Show stories and journey of adults and children you are helping through your great non-profit
• Show testimonials about their experiences from your previous and current donors, volunteers and supporters that believe in your cause and have worked with you
#3 – Can I trust you?
• Show them that you are efficient in your operations and you can be trusted.
• Display Annual Reports
• Display testimonials
• Display your BBB seal or similar that builds trust
#4- How do I donate?
• Make sure your donate buttons are displayed prominently across all of your pages
• The donor does not have to jump hoops like –Sign up for e-newsletter first – before they can donate
• Make sure your website and donation pages are mobile friendly and can be accessed not only from laptops but also from tablets and smart phones
#5 – So I am ready to give....great
• Make it quick and easy to donate
• Have a look at your form and keep it simple by asking for only relevant information
#6 – Done...now what?
• Don’t wait a month to thank your donors, preferably do it right away
• They would like to know they are appreciated
• They want to help you in your mission. They want to solve challenges just as much as you do
• Give them the option to sign up for your newsletter so you can keep in touch and retain them as donors
