CANDIDATE SCREENING & INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

ALWAYS BE CLOSING - ABCIt’s very important…very important that you begin closing your candidate from the very first

phone call. The term closing means that you’re confirming what it will take for your candidate to leave their current position and /or take a new position in reference to: salary/hr rate, benefits, commute, culture, etc. If you wait until the offer is on the table to close your candidate you are already too late. Unless the candidate has been lying to you, you should have a fair idea of whether they will accept your offer when you make it at the offer stage and then you can lock down your next placement. Let’s take a look:

Examples: Current salary – “What are you currently making?” Salary requirements – “What are you looking to make?” Other roles - “Are there any other roles you might be considering within your current company?” Counter offers – “Do you expect your company to counter?” Other offers – “Do you have any other offers on the table? If so, please share the details.” (Let them know

you want to understand what the competition is and how your role competes.) Currently/recently interviewing - “What other roles have you applied for directly?” Other positions - “What positions have you been represented for by a recruiter?”

RESUME REVIEW & REVISE During each interview you’ll be revising the resume to reflect the candidates relevant

work experience to the job. The in-person interview is where you should really dig deep into your candidates work

experience as well as the requirements and wants that they need in a new career opportunity. It is your goal to determine and prove that they ARE in fact, a match for this position?

As you go through their resume, ensure you’re asking questions about their work experience related to the responsibilities of the position. For example:

• Ask them to tell you about a time when they successfully accomplished the task of the first three responsibilities of the role.

• Take notes. • Ensure that it’s reflected on your

candidates resume.
