Storyboard of the opening sequence

1. Rita Adams is on the way home from a busy day at work. She comes from the town carrying her shopping bags.

4. In the first scene we used parallel editing to show the deceit of Rita Adams’ husband. Richard Adams is at first working on his computer and drinking tea.

2. The hit man waits outside the Adams’ house in his car

3. He is texting someone while watching out, so nobody sees him.

7. The hit man arrives and knocks at the window to let Richard know he’s there

8. Richard shows him an envelope with money in it and signals him to come in.

6. Richard Adams checks the envelope with the money for the hit man again.

5. Rita Adams is still walking home and wants to get her phone out of her bag, still not knowing what her husband has planned…

9. The hit man enters through the back door.

11. Richard hands over the envelope to the hit man.

10. Rita fiddles with her bag, as she wants to take her phone out.

12. Rita takes her phone from her bag.

16. They enter the kitchen together to prepare the deceit.

13. He counts the money in the envelope.

15. She puts her shopping bags down so she can take her phone with both hands.

14. Rita checks her text messages.

17. The hit man and Richard prepare Richards faked death.

18. They prepare the cling film on the floor for the “professional murder”.

19. The hit man explains to Richard where he’s going to put the fake blood.

20. Rita reads her message, smiles and picks her bags up and continues walking

23. The hit man places the knife with the fake blood next to Richard, the fake murder is ready for Rita to see.

24. Rita is at the gate and enters the property

21. The hit man puts the fake blood on Richards back of the head.

22. While they prepare the fake death, Rita is still on her way home.

25. Rita checks the street first for people before she unlocks the door.

26. Rita enters the house unseen.

27. She quickly puts her shopping bags away.

28. She refreshes her make-up in a small mirror.

29. Rita starts walking towards the kitchen.

30. She steppes into the kitchen.

31. She sees her husband lying – apparently dead – on the kitchen floor.

32. She smiles to herself, apparently happy about her dead husband.

33. Rita takes a cup out and boils the kettle.

34. She drinks her tea without caring that her husband is lying apparently dead at her feet.

35. Rita takes her phone out to check her messages again.

36. She doesn’t notice that the hit man steps into the kitchen behind her.

37. He sneaks up behind her while she is busy with her phone.

38. He covers her mouth with his hand so nobody can hear her scream while he drags her away.

39. She tries to escape and fight back but all her attempts fail.

40. Her phone still shows the last message she received, which says “Job almost done”.

41. Rita meets the hit man in his car.

The previous day:

42. They shake hands in agreement over a deal they made.

43. Rita leaves again after the meeting.

Present day:

44. Richard opens his eyes again.
