HEALTH• Health is the state of well-being in which all

the components of health are in balance. The World Health Organization (WHO)

defined health in its broader sense in its 1948 constitution as "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.

PUBLIC HEALTH• Public health is defined as the

science of protecting the safety and improving the health of communities through education, policy making and research for disease and injury prevention.

Public health components • Monitor health status to identify community

health programs.• Inform , educate , and empower people about

health issues.• Diagnose and investigate health problems and

health hazards in the community.• Mobilize community partnership to identify

and solve health problems.

Primary health care• Primary health care (PHC) refers

to "essential health care" that is based on scientifically sound and socially acceptable methods and technology.

PRIMARY HEALTH CARE COMPONENTS

• Maternal & Child Health Care: Ensuring comprehensive and adequate health care to children and to mothers, both expecting and otherwise, is another essential element of primary health care.

• Immunization : By administering global immunizations, WHO works to wipe out major infectious diseases, greatly improving overall health globally.
