• Historical Importance of the Vietnam War: The Vietnam War was the struggle between nationalist forces attempting to unify the country of Vietnam under a communist government and the United States attempting to prevent the spread of communism(with the aid of the South Vietnamese) . Engaged in a war that many viewed as having no way to win, U.S. leaders lost the American public's support for the war.

The course of American History was drastically changed by the Vietnam War. The American policies on foreign affairs, domestic politics, and cultural and social history were greatly changed by this event.

First: politically

The idea of succeeding was really far, the government’s members were also fighting in the US.

Second: military• They were getting spent and exhausted and no one is

supporting them at home.• The army was losing since you could not differentiate

enemies from friends.• The people were fighting against each other.2.5 million people were dead because of that, and Their names

are listed on the Vietnam Wall .• Many American soldiers died due to diseases .• America took a big loss in terms of soldiers .• Major loss of lives outside the country ever in the American

history.

Third: society The people divided into HAWKS and DOVES:• Hawks: supported Johnson, believed in

Domino theory and Communism. Want the war.

• Doves: against the war, a group of liberal politicians.

Kent state: On 4 May 1970 Ohio national guardsmen

opened fire on Kent State University students protesting the Vietnam War. In a mere thirteen seconds four students were killed, and nine others wounded. What had begun as a small campus demonstration turned Kent State into a symbol of the Vietnam era worldwide.
