The media pack

for ‘Top of the

Pops’ magazine is

much more

simple that the

others I have

looked at. It is

not a full media

pack, it is just

information that

is displayed on

the magazines

website. It is

hard to find and

then fairly

disappointing so I

don’t think it is

being put to its

best use! There is

not much

information for

the readers to

look at

compared to

other

magazines, and

you cannot

download it as

one pack which is

a disadvantage.

The way it is

displayed is also

boring, I think

they should of

used the same

colours as are

used within the

magazine, such as

The first

information that

is provided for

the readers is

data about main

points of the

magazine such as

their readership

and percentages

of what gender it

is most suited to.

The information

shows that its

target audience is

mainly females

although there is a

small amount of

males that

purchase the

magazine. It also

tells us that they

are between the

ages of 11-15 so the

magazines

contents has to be

suitable for them

to see, it could

also affect the

way the articles

are written as the

jargon could

This tells me that the magazine

costs £2.99 to purchase, I could

base my magazine on this price

as it will be in competition with

mine as they are for the same

market, and I think they are

offering a reasonable price as

they have to take into

consideration who is going to be

buying it.

This also provides

figures which

readers may want

to find out or

potential readers.

The information

provided on this tab on

the website is for

people that may want

to place adverts in the

magazine. The other

two media packs I have

analysed have also

included this, so it

must be a useful thing

for the readers to

have. I think this is

because it stops people

contacting the

magazine itself and

constantly asking for

the details so instead

they are provided in a

simple format that is

easy to pull the right

information out of.

It shows the rates of

different aspects of

displays and inserts

that could be chosen.

The media pack is very small and therefore doesn’t contain

much information at all, compared to the others I have

looked at. I think the magazine should have spent more

time providing a useful tool for their readers as it may

help them. The information is kept to a minimum although

on the website there is the option to download files that

have extra details such as the one above. They are for the

use of media buyers or advertisers so that they can find

more out about how to do things and ad specifications. I

think this is useful although they should put it all together

in an online media pack that can be downloaded easily as

one. The information within the files is much more detailed

than what is available on the website. It gives links that can

take you further to help you do things, which will help the

magazine get more money through people advertising. This
