UPDATE: DRINKING WATER ADVISORY FOR
THE TOWN OF ARNPRIOR - PARTIALLY LIFTED
August 11, 2016 – 4:00 pm
The Drinking Water Advisory previously issued on Aug 10, for all areas of Arnprior, has
now been revised. The Drinking Water Advisory has now been lifted for approximately
60% of water users in Arnprior; however the advisory remains in place for approximately
40% of water users in the south west quadrant of Town. Properties that continue to
remain under the Drinking Water Advisory are shown in Grey on the map attached
below. If you require assistance interpreting the attached map, please do not hesitate
to contact Town Hall at 613-623-4231.
FOR YOUR PROTECTION AND UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, DO NOT USE TAP WATER FOR:
drinking,
food preparation,
cooking,
making ice,
washing dishes,
brushing teeth,
preparing infant formula,
hand washing, bathing or showering.
Tap water should only be used for flushing toilets and laundering clothes.
If you have come in contact with municipal water and are feeling unwell, consider
speaking to a health-care provider or calling Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000.
For more information contact the Renfrew County and District Health Unit at 1-800-267-
1097, ext. 555.

For the areas that continue to remain under the Drinking Water Advisory
(in grey) the following conditions continue to apply:
"Optimal health for all in
Renfrew County and District"
Renfrew County and
District Health Unit
This advisory is issued as a precaution and will be rescinded once the Town and
Renfrew County and District Health Unit can confirm that water in the distribution
system is safe to drink. This drinking water advisory will not be lifted until at least 5:00
pm on Friday August 12, 2016; however it could be extended if required.
Clean drinking water supplies have being set-up at the Nick Smith Centre for residents
still impacted by the Drinking Water Advisory. The Town will be dispensing bulk water
as well as bottled sources. If possible, please bring a personal container to hold water if
available to you. The Nick Smith Centre will be open and continuing to distribute clean
drinking water overnight on the night of August 11th to the morning of August 12th and on
August 12th during the day.
If you are unable to attend the Nick Smith centre to obtain water, please contact Town Hall at 613-623-4231 and the Town will arrange delivery of water supplies for you.
If you require assistance interpreting the attached map, please do not hesitate to
contact Town Hall at 613-623-4231.
Water users where the Advisory has been lifted (shown in white) may return to regular
usage and consumption of Town supplied water, after first having flushed all taps for a
minimum of 5 min. Please open your COLD water taps to clear the system.
Due to hydrant flushing activities that were undertaken by Town staff yesterday and
today, rusty coloured water may be present in your tap water when first turned on. The
coloured water is not hazardous to your health. This situation is temporary and should
not last any longer than 2 hours.
Please monitor the Towns website and media for further updates. Additional
information and updates can be found on the Town’s Website at www.arnprior.ca
