Jayalalithaa returns as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister

Vipin

T.N.:J Jayalalithaa is back as Tamil

Nadu chief minister, eight months

after she had to resign because a

Bangalore court convicted her in a

corruption case.

She took oath this morning in the

centenary hall of the Madras

University.

28 ministers were also sworn in -

they stood in a line and took oath

together - in an event that was

wrapped up in less than half an

hour. O Panneerselvam, who

resigned as chief minister on

Friday, is now Finance Minister.

Superstar Rajinikanth, who is Ms

Jayalalithaa's neighbour at

Chennai's Poes Garden attended

the oath ceremony. Cricket adminis-

trator and businessman N

Srinivasan was there too.

Union minister Pon Radhakrishnan

represented the Centre and the BJP

along with a few state level leaders.

In Delhi, Finance Minister Minster

Arun Jaitley told in his statement to

media.I congratulate Ms

Jayalalithaa and said, "We don't

have an alliance with the AIADMK.

We cooperate on certain issues but

we also have differences.

We will maintain the best relations

with Tamil Nadu and cooperate with

them."

The AIADMK with its 11 lawmakers

in the Rajya Sabha is important for

the BJP-led Narendra Modi govern-

ment, which is in a minority in that

house of Parliament and needs the

help of regional parties like Ms

Jayalalithaa's to pass key legisla-

tion. Prime Minister Narendra Modi

was among the first to greet Ms

Jayalalithaa when the Karnataka

High Court acquitted her of corrup-

tion charges earlier this month. The

court's decision cleared the way for

her return as chief minister.

After she took oath today, Ms

Jayalalithaa returned to her Poes

Garden residence.

She is likely to go to the state sec-

retariat and begin work only tomor-

row. sources said.

Ms Jayalalithaa has to hit the

ground running to make up for the

limbo that the state government

was in since September last year,

when she resigned. O

Panneerselvam, who took her

place, made it clear he was only

standing in till her return.

Ms Jayalalithaa is expected to

announce new projects and welfare

schemes.

The launch of a metro rail project is

pending and she is expected to

announce a global investors meet,

postponed a few times during Mr

Panneerselvam's tenure.

She must win a state assembly seat

within six months of being sworn in.

There is speculation that she could

call assembly elections earlier than

next year, when they are due to be

held.

The Importance of Being

Jayalalithaa as CM;

The Woman, actress,Brahmin,

Kannadiga. Conventional wisdom

would suggest that resume is all

wrong for the hard playfield of Tamil

Nadu politics and in a Dravidian

party. But then J Jayalalithaa's life

and career are the stuff fairy tales

are made of. Or movie scripts with

happy endings.

The fame and celebrity she earned

as a successful actress would pale

in comparison with what she would

achieve in later years.

At 67, Jayalalithaa is a political

giant not only in Tamil Nadu, where

she took oath as chief minister for

the fifth time on Saturday, with two

of her three terms punctuated by

brief spells of political exile. Brand

Jayalalithaa is an undeniable pres-

ence at the national level, most

emphatically after last year's

national election, when her party

swept 37 of Tamil Nadu's 39 seats,

making her AIADMK the third

largest party in the Lok Sabha after

the BJP and the Congress. Her

stunning victory in the assembly

elections of 2011 had ensured that

her party's tally of 11 in the Rajya

Sabha or upper house of

Parliament cannot be scoffed at

either, especially in times when the

BJP-led central government is in a

minority in the house and often

depends on regional parties like

Jayalalithaa's to help it pass crucial

legislation. When Jayalalithaa was

convicted in September last year in

a corruption case by a Bangalore

trial court, her political rivals cele-

brated the possibility that she would

not be able to contest elections for

another decade. That, they reck-

oned, would mean the end of the

AIADMK, a party that revolves com-

pletely around its chief.

vince himself that he will be able to do

it. Everyone has a certain fear, which

he wants to overcome. But due to the

lack of confidence he is unable to.

Confidence is something which

boosts all our energy and focus

towards a particular goal, gives us

courage and virtue to perform and

achieve the aim.

Now, according to me confidence

means:

Courage,Overcoming fear,

Necessitating,Focus Inspiring,

Designing thoughts, Eagerness to

learn,Negotiating with the introvert

nature, Careful to keep away negative

thoughts, Easy going.

These are the few words which I

relate to confidence, which when kept

in mind, gives us the assurance that

“yes, I can do this”.

We lack courage, the motivation to

perform a task when we are under-

confident. It is not easy to get confi-

dent enough to perform the task suc-

cessfully. We need courage to speak

out the heart, listen to one’s own will,

and do the task, with full heart,

whether successful or not. We are

motivated from a number of things,

from appreciation to inspiration.

Appreciation is one of the greatest

factor of encouragement. We get

immense pleasure when we are

appreciated and get reward. We feel

like, we should do more of such things

to get more appreciation. For exam-

ple- in a manufacturing company, a

worker is not happy when he just gets

his remuneration. When he is appreci-

ated, he performs the task more skill-

fully. One of the factor which leads to

confidence is courage and motivation.

Fear is something which binds us

from doing something. Singing in front

of a huge crowd, giving a 1st time

speech in auditorium, facing an inter-

view, etc. Fear stops us from doing

something which we have not done

before, or when we have not faced a

particular situation. Overcoming a fear

leads to being confident. It’s just that

we should be knowing our weakness-

es. Working upon the fear and weak-

nesses can give us strength to at least

perform the activity. Fear is natural to

come, but how to utilize it is more

important. It should be kept in control

or worked upon. Thus overcoming

fear can be a huge boon in being con-

fident.

Everyone has some talents and few

negative points. Necessitating is utiliz-

ing the talents and working upon the

weaknesses and negative points.

Many says that a person’s nature

never changes. But when worked

upon, even a stone can be moulded

into a beautiful piece of sculpture.

Necessitating is recognizing our-

selves, our negative and positive

points and moulding ourselves into a

person in demand.

There is a proverb, “where there is a

will, there’s a way”. It’s not bad to be

under confident, but it is very bad to

continue being like that. There’s no

place for words like “I wish” in life. We

have to focus and understand what is

needed. If a person is not good at

speech, he has to focus and work

hard. He can’t say his whole life “I

wish I could speak properly.” If he is

not able to speak, it is his fault that he

has not worked upon it. Opportunities

comes and goes. It doesn’t wait for

us. Being prepared beforehand helps

in tackling suck conditions.

There is a proverb-“being inspired and

inspiring others, is the key to a suc-

cessful company.” Inspiration can

come from anything we are interested

in. Reading books inspires us to

speak fluently. Reading motivational

books inspires us to recognize what is

wrong and what is right, to be virtu-

ous. When we are inspired, we listen

to our own heart and do something,

which others may make fun of, or may

consider wrong. But at least it gives

us the confidence to do what we feel

is right. Confidence is overcoming the

fear of what others might feel or think

about us. Inspiration is one of the

major fuel in the procedure of getting

into confidence mode. A day might,

when others might get inspired from

us. What we need is just confidence.

What goes into making a confident individual?

What is Self Improvement? It is an inner process, aim-ing for a better, happier life.It is a process of innerchange, adopting a posi-tive mind set, getting rid ofnegative habits, and build-ing new, positive ones.Nowadays, people areturning within them, to findthe solutions to their prob-lems. They seek knowl-edge, techniques, work-shops, lectures, teachers, who can show them theway.People are beginning tounderstand that SelfImprovement and SelfGrowth can improve thequality of their lives. When one start-ing with a SelfImprovement pro-gram, it is com-mon to encounterinner resistance that comefrom old habits and fromyour subconscious mind. The desire to change andbuild new habits andimprove oneself must bestrong enough to resistlaziness, desire to give up.Let me tell you somethingabout me, I have beenattracted to self-improve-ment from an early age,and have regarded it as a

source of inner strengthand happiness, and a wayto improve my life.I discovered, was a simple, but very effective tech-nique. It consisted ofwatching how people

behaveda n d

acted invarious situa-tions, and thenlooking insideme, to find outif I behaved inthe same wayunder thesame condi-tions.When I

s a w

peo-ple with certain traits ofcharacter, or a certain kindof behavior that I did notlike, I examined myself tosee whether I possessedthem too. If I did, I visual-ized and rehearsed in mymind a different sort ofbehavior. In my mind’s eye,I saw myself with the oppo-site traits of character.I visualized myself in vari-ous situations, in which I

adopted the new behavior. When I encountered traitsof character or behavior, which I like, I used to thinkabout their importance inmy life. Here too, I usedvisualizations and accord-ingly enacted them in mydaily life.In this way, I learned andbenefited a lot from thebehavior and actions of thepeople around me, at work,at home, at college, onstreet and everywhereelse. It was never for thepurpose of judging them ortaking advantage of them, but for learning how to act, react and behave in a bet-ter way. This learning had anotherbenefit. It increased theknowledge and under-standing about how themind and thoughts influ-ence the behavior andactions of peopleIt is important to under-stand that thinking andvisualizing once is just notenough. You need to do soover and over again in yourdaily life, until you seeresults.

acter, ‘Robin hood’ is not

imaginary anymore.The day

before his oath ceremony as

a councilor, Mr. Manish

Shukla, ‘The Robin hood’,

was interviewed upfront. His

devotion towards social work

is revered by many making

him a crowd-pleaser among

the youth.

career as a politician?

A) Since college days as a

student politician from, 2002.

role model to the youth?

What would you suggest

them to do?

A) I had no clue that I am fol-

lowed by the youth but if I had

to suggest, I would say be it in

any field of work they are in,

they should put their com-

plete effort and be 100% hon-

est to themselves and others.

Q) You are a role model to so

many people. Who is your

role model?

A) I am actually just a person

who believes in being honest,

helping the needful and my

role model would definitely be

Swami Vivekananda even

ated with Belur Math, Ram

Krishna Mission and most

importantly Shrishti, which is

my own organization that

constitutes of over 150 clubs

through which I try to help the

common people and also his

voters from own locality.

Islamic State seized full control of both ancient and mod-ern Palmyra in central Syria, just days after it captured aprovincial capital in neighbouring Iraq, suggestingmomentum is building for the ultra-hardline group.Thetwin successes pile pressure not just on Damascus andBaghdad, but also throws doubt on US strategy to relyalmost exclusively on air strikes to defeat the SunniMuslim movement, which is an offshoot of al Qaeda.Islamic State said in a statement posted by followers onTwitter that it was in full charge of Palmyra, including itsmilitary installations, marking the first time it had taken acity directly from the Syrian military and allied forces. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rightssaid Islamic State now controls more than half of Syrianterritory following more than four years of civil waragainst the autocratic rule of President Bashar al-Assad.The radical group has destroyed antiquities and monu-ments in Iraq and there are fears it might now devastatePalmyra, an ancient World Heritage site and home torenowned Roman-era ruins including well-preservedtemples, colonnades and a theatre.“This is the fall of a civilisation,” Syria’s antiquities chiefMaamoun Abdulkarim told by telephone on Thursday.“Human, civilised society has lost the battle against bar-barism. I have lost all hope.” Clashes in the area sinceWednesday killed at least 100 pro-government fighters, said Rami Abdulrahman, head of the Syrian Observatoryfor Human Rights, which bases its information on a net-work of sources on the ground.Islamic State said retreating pro-government forces hadleft behind many dead, but gave no precise figures.

Hundreds of protesters marched aroundMcDonald’s suburban Chicago head-quarters, shutting down at least onebuilding on the corporate campus as theycalled for pay of $15 an hour and a union.About 100 protesters were arrested fortrespassing as they temporarily blockedtwo streets around the McDonald’s cam-pus on Wednesday, a day before thecompany’s annual shareholder meeting.McDonald’s closed a nearby restaurantbecause of traffic concerns, and toldemployees in a building targeted by pro-testers they should work from home, company spokeswoman Heidi Barker SaShekhem said. The campaign for $15 an hour and aunion began in late 2012 and hasinvolved a range of tactics, includingdemonstrations in cities around the coun-try.uthorities estimated up to 2,000 peopletook part in Wednesday’s demonstration, some carrying signs declaring, “We areworth more.” Dozens of buses were usedto transport people to demonstration, with

some coming from as far away as NewYork. The Rev William Barber of Goldsboro,North Carolina, said the campaignextends beyond pushing for a livingwage. He called it a fight for racial equal-ity, noting people of color are dispropor-tionally working in low wage jobs.Corey Anderson, 21, who works at aChicago McDonald’s, said he makes$8.25 an hour after working for the fast-food chain for more than two years. That’s not enough to live on after rent andutilities are paid, he said.“I feel like they don’t understand what it’slike to make what we make,” he said.Sa Shekhem said the company respectsthe right to protest.“When it comes it comes to the minimumwage, that is a national discussion, that isnot a McDonald’s issue, it’s an economicissue,” she said. “We’ll look to the folks inWashington to determine what happens.”Earlier in 2015, McDonald’s said it wouldraise its starting pay for workers to $1above the local minimum wage. Labororganisers said the move falls shortbecause it only applies to company-owned stores.

'Nut rage' Korean Air heiress freed by appeals court

The former Korean Air executive jailed for disrupting a flight in

a rage over macadamia nuts walked free on Friday when a

South Korean appeals court overturned her conviction for vio-

lating aviation safety laws.

The High Court in Seoul ruled that Cho Hyun-ah, who had

been in jail since her arrest in December, was not guilty of the

most serious charge of altering an aircraft's route while in

flight.

That overturned the verdict of a lower district court, which had

jailed Ms Cho for one year in February.

"The accused had no intention of hampering the safe opera-

tion of the plane," Kim Sang-Hwan, the High Court judge, said,

handing down a reduced sentence of 10 months, suspended

for two years. After the hearing, Ms Cho, 40, changed out of

her prison clothes and left the court, dressed in black coat and

wearing heavy dark-rimmed glasses.

Mobbed by reporters outside, Ms Cho, walking with her head

bowed, was shielded by a small group of minders who whisked

her away to a waiting black sedan.

One of her lawyers offered Ms Cho's apologies to "all those

who have been hurt by this incident". The eldest daughter of

the airline's chairman, Ms Cho was a Korean Air (KAL) vice

president in charge of in-flight service at the time of her

December 5 "nut rage" meltdown on board a Seoul-bound KAL

flight that had just left the gate in New York.

Thoughts are strings of images and speeches which goes on continuously on our mind.Negative thoughts and positive thoughts are the 2 types of thought. We have nothingto worry about positive thoughts. It helps in keeping a gentle profile. What we need toworry about is negative thoughts. We struggle through negative thoughts. It’s the mainroot of the under confidence and is responsible for all the problems created by us. Forexample, however a good singer a person be, but when faced by crowd, negativethoughts starts overpowering. What we have to do is to just manage and transform ourthoughts into positive ones. Managing the strings of thoughts and utilizing it in properplace, helps us a lot in conveying the correct speech.Sometimes, when we have eagerness to learn, confidence comes naturally. Howeverintrovert we maybe, but when we know about something being discussed, we feel likespeaking out. When we have the knowledge, we feel confident to say something or dosomething. One must have the eagerness to learn. It comes handy in various situa-tions. Knowledge never goes waste. It gives us maturity and increases our thinkingcapacity. Introvert nature in not at all bad. Being introvert keeps one’s thoughts and speech incontrol. But it also binds a person from doing something which he is capable of. Wehave to negotiate with our introvert nature to perform something, which we are skillfulat. Tackling the introvert nature helps in tackling the fear of doing something. It is necessary to keep away the negative thoughts while doing something. Negativethoughts ruin us. It is a step towards under confidence. While doing a task/ activity, negative thoughts demotivates is and it lets the opportunities slip away from our hands.Keeping a positive mind helps us maintaining a pleasant profile. Everyone like to getin touch with a person who is positive. People tries to ignore a negative person. Whenwe are negative, opportunities doesn’t even know our door and goes to someoneelse’s hand. So it really important to keep a check on one’s thoughts. Thoughts are thedatabase and speech and body language are the output results. When we are under confident, we think of the outcome even before performing theactivity. Keeping ourselves relaxed, boosts the confidence to face a particular situation. Appreciation is also a major factor in boosting the confidence, which works majorly forme. Thus, these are the key points which when combined, gives an individual a plat-form to outshine others and helps in bringing up the submerged image. Confidence issomething which is not gifted by birth, but needs to be developed. In today’s competi-tive world, confidence is one of the major factor of being successful. There’s never a‘tomorrow’. If an individual is under-confident, he needs to work upon at ‘right time’(read right now) to be prepared for tomorrow.

The Church Street blast case has been transferred

to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Top

Cops failed to Handle Church Street blast case !

Based on the order of the Ministry of Home Affairs,

the Hyderabad unit of NIA has registered a fresh

case in connection with the blast, which had

claimed the life of a Chennai-based woman.

The blast had taken place on December 28 near

Coconut Grove, a restaurant on Church Street.

The City police had suspected the role of two terror

organisations behind the blast.

The investigating team had also brought two

Students Islamic Movement of India (Simi) opera-

tives from Patna, Bihar. The police said that the

operatives, Umer Siddiqui and Haider Ali, who

were part of Simi modules, were suspected to have

been assigned to carry out blasts in South India.

The city police, who initiated investigations, had

formed a special team of over 150 personnel to

examine over one lakh calls, and analyse CCTV

footage.

We will cooperate with them in the investigation”,

and I said them to sit with the team of officials who

were probing the case, and discuss in detail about

the case. with them.

The original FIR was registered at the Cubbon Park

police station (FIR309/2014) and Hyderabad

branch of NIA registered the case as 01/2015 on

Wednesday. The Bengaluru City police and the

Internal Security Division (ISD) had been jointly

probing the Church Street blast case for the past

five months.

owever, no vital information was gathered from the

duo. A source in the NIA said the probe will start

afresh in the case and all documents relating to the

case and the probe report will also be collected

from the Bengaluru City police.

A woman from Tamil Nadu, Bhavani, who was on a

visit to the City, had died from serious shrapnel

injuries she sustained on her face and neck in the

blast.

A case under various sections of the Indian Penal

Code, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and

Explosives Substances Act has been registered at

the NIA office in Hyderabad, officials said.

The move comes following an order by the Union

Home Ministry asking NIA to probe the case, they

said.

Suspected militants had on December 28 wrapped

the improvised explosive device (IED) in a plastic

bag and placed it in a bushy plant outside Coconut

Grove, a popular restaurant in the heart of the city.

The restaurant is close to Brigade Road and M G

Road, dotted with bars and restaurants and teem-

ing with crowds on weekends.

Following the blast, a case was registered at the

Cubbon Park police station.

Karnataka police had later claimed that it had bust-

ed a terror module of the banned Indian

Mujahideen and their role in the Bengaluru blast

was being probed.

Initial leads had, however, suggested the role of

banned SIMI behind the attack, the officials said.

‘Yet to Receive Information’

told Home Minister K J George confirmed that the

case has been handed over to NIA. “We are yet to

receive information about the commencement of

the investigation and further proceedings” he said.

City Police Commissioner M N Reddi said that a

letter was written to the government to hand over

the case to NIA after conducting a thorough inves-

tigation into it. “We learnt that there is possible

involvement of inter-state terror groups and NIA is

more capable to handle such cases in an appropri-

ate manner, the police commissioner He added

‘Definition of Fear’, saysshe is a performer andfinds it exciting to learnnew things“We considerourselves a performer andan artist. It is a beautiful

thing to do othercinema as well. For me, being

a SriLankan,I

cameto Bollywood and I amdoing a cinema which isnot known to me. It is notfrom my home country, soit is just nice when you canexpand and learn. It is a

beautiful thing,” saidJacqueline here.A string of actors fromHindi cinema are tryingtheir luck abroad. WhilePriyanka Chopra is doingan American TV series‘Quantico’ in the West,Nargis Fakhri is makingher Hollywood debut with‘Spy’. In the past, Big BAmitabh Bachchan did acameo in the Hollywoodfilm ‘The Great Gatsby’,while Anil Kapoor andIrrfan Khan have featuredin multiple Hollywood proj-ects.“I just think that everythinghas become a lot moreglobalised now. Different actors from allover the word are doingdifferent cinema and differ-ent things as well. Actorsare not just getting into dif-ferent cinema, they areactually getting into differ-ent walks of life…

Tanu Weds Manu Returns review

Mumbai: A crowd pleaseris a film that induces seetiand taali from the audi-ence, making sure they goback home feeling they’vespent their money onsomething cheerful. Oneway to do this is to fleshout a story with an unusu-al conflict and resolve thatconflict in ways that sur-prise the audience, whilealso shoehorning a socialmessage into the film inthe process. This is diffi-cult to do and as a result, rare. Queen belonged tothis rare breed of films.Another way to make acrowd pleaser is to aim forthe lowest commondenominator, establish anunusual conflict andresolve it using unbeliev-able contrivances, whiledishing out crackling dia-logues, soap-opera styledramatic beats and socialmessages. Tanu WedsManu Returns is one ofthese films.Director Anand L Rai’sfilmmaking style is obvi-ous from his filmography –he makes stories that‘romanticize’ love, which

means they’re full oftropes and (like love itself)don’t make much sense. This doesn’t mean TanuWeds Manu Returns iswithout promise.Kangana Ranaut in TanuWeds Manu returns.Kangana Ranaut in TanuWeds Manu returns. That Tanu Weds Manu gota sequel is surprisingenough, but to have asequel with an interestingplot is even better. Fouryears after the events ofthe first film, Tanu(Kangana Ranaut) andManu (Madhavan) are stillin London, but are now abickering couple. Theyboth have huge egos andcan’t pass a single daywithout breaking into amassive fight.appears right in the open-ing scene, in which Tanuand Manu go to a Britishmental asylum and dis-cuss their problems withHindi-speaking psychia-trists. By the end of theirsession, Manu is shoutingat Tanu and is locked up inthe asylum for violentbehaviour.
