Core Message: Dont have a crappy website, website is an asset, dont put lipstick on a pig. Cousin in the basement named ernie.

Tips: Have a website (doi) - go light on plugins, if you are inexperienced - use Wordpress. Do your research on any plugin, Its worth it to pay someone to help you, Tools: Wordpress - good themes, good for SEO, good plugins, user friendly, cost-effective, works for most clients that weve seen, Square space will limit you on functionality and scalability (you can attach a blog - but if you want to plug salesforce in then you will have, 5 plugsins - yoast, sitemap generator, W3 total cache, social toolbar, to do some custom development)

> Millennials might be most likely, but were all on the move. And as this stat proves, were carrying around an inbox everywhere we go (note: dont check email while driving).

Email is also the top channel for marketing ROI, raking in $38 for every $1 spent. (Source: Direct Marketing Assoc.)

Email MarketingHave a strategyAlways be growing your listTest and test againContent 80/20 RuleMake it valuable!Timing & frequency

@V9SEO#DENStartupWeek

Strategy >> Start with a Welcome Email; Work every angle (ex: shipping notifications + recommended good or survey)

No one likes to hang out at a party with the guy who talks about himself the entire time. Treat email marketing the same -- 80 percent of your content should be devoted to valuable and useful information, and 20 percent should be devoted to your offer or sales pitch.

Not all times are good times to send an email blast. Open rates vary by industry, but in general, the highest opening rate for email broadcasts typically occurs in the evening after people have left work and had dinner, such as between 8 p.m. and midnight. This surprised me too!

PR Tip Dont do things for the purpose of good PR.

@V9SEO#DENStartupWeek

Biggest tip = keep it human! with users/consumers and influencers/networkThink of it as another form of content marketingOutreach: media and industry influencersMake friends, not contacts.Build first, ask second.Make it unique and valuable.

Using content during PR outreach will help SEO to get visibility from media, which in turn enhances SEO results. Once PR realizes that its in SEOs best interests to get those powerful, authoritative media links, they will facilitate getting content built that gets picked up by media.

SEO benefits that come from a press release include:Indirect ValueNatural links from outside sources builds back links and site authorityVisibilityBrand / Name recognitionReferral traffic
