Keynote Speakers
Through his dynamic presence, Charlie motivates audience members to take responsibility for their own safety with his empowering message. He knows how to create the importance of a team between management and labor. A rousing wake up call.
Charlie is the face of safety. As an oil refinery employee, Charlie considered himself one of the guys, and his company and union considered him a good worker. With 15 years of experience, he knew all the safety procedures and how to get around them. In 1980, shortcuts nearly cost him his life when a routine job turned tragic. Burned over 50% of his body, Charlie spent five years in the hospital. His family fell apart. He lost everything. “All for what?” is the question he continues to ask himself today. Charlie, a dynamic speaker who touches an audience through his autobiographical story, emphasizes taking responsibility for one’s actions and one’s safety. Standard training meetings, videos and seminars demonstrate how to follow safety procedures. Charlie Morecraft tells you why you should.

Our Safety Training & Meetings Stink! (9:30am) Speaker: Judy Trent Is that what your employees are thinking? Delivering interesting, entertaining and effective safety training & meetings throughout the year can be very difficult. In many cases, the people responsible for communicating the safety material have never been trained in public speaking, adult education or communications. This workshop will guide you through training pitfalls and give you several ideas that you’ll be able to use to immediately impact your safety meetings.
Safe 4 The Right Reasons (8:00am) Speaker: Dale Lesinski This program addresses the upstream struggle that safety professionals face trying to get employees to adopt and value a safe behavior. Dale offers a fresh approach and his ability to make his message personal for every employee is the key to his effectiveness. A basic understanding of human behavior and why we do the things we do is the foundation of how to motivate employees to value safety.
Safety Survival: A US Marine’s Perspective (11:00am) Speaker: Mark O’Brien Getting employees to wear PPE, respect their safety training, and ultimately value their own personal safety continues to be a challenge to employers in delivering a safe work environment. As a US Marine, Corporal Mark O’Brien relied on his training, PPE, and support systems (fellow Marines) to save his life on the battlefield. Mark explains how his training “kicked in,” how his PPE saved his life, and how the “shock waves” of his injuries have effected his loved ones.

Corporate safety days can improve the bottom lineCorporate Safety Days can be used to draw attention to workplace safety, present new ideas about making the company a safer place to work and recognize previous accomplishments regarding safety. Show your employees your corporate commitment to their safety. Employee moral is a key component to a successful safety culture. Safety Days allow employees to experi-ence the safety message in an exciting way that differs from their ordinary training meetings. Using Safety Days to encourage safety at work can directly benefit a company and its bottom line. More safety awareness leads to better practices, which will ultimately reduce lost time for employees, worker’s compensation claims and cost of insurance premiums. Let the safety professionals at DiVal show you how to make it “fun to celebrate safety” through a Safety Day, or other safety event, that will improve your company’s safety program and bottom line.
