Where do Volunteers work?If you are working at WTCC (World Trade & Conference Centre) or SC (Scotiabank Centre), you will be supporting:

• Special Events: Awards, Shoe Mountain, Lost Kids, After Party, Pre-race Mixer, Information Both, and Celebration Zone.

• Runner Services: Registration, Race Kit Pick Up, T-shirt Exchange, Race Transfers, Point of Sale, Medal Distribution, and participant Bag Storage.

• Logistics: Active Living Expo, Food Service, Distribution Centre, Facility and On-Route Signage.

• Volunteer Services: Management and coordination of all volunteers services.

Special EventsThe Special Events Committee ensures the race weekend ‘experience’ is special and memorable. They are responsible for:

• Information Booth• Lost Kids• Pre Race Mixer inside Scotiabank Centre on race days (Saturday & Sunday)• Celebration Zone• Photo Booth • Shoe Mountain and Socks for Soles• Awards Distribution• After Party on Sunday night at WTCC

Lost Kids AreaThe Doctors NS Youth Run is on Saturday morning.

What to do if you find a lost kid? Smile and tell the youth not to worry! Contact your team leader and grab another volunteer. Together, take the youth to LOST KIDS in section 13 in the Scotiabank Centre.

Lost Kids area will be clearly marked.

Volunteers will be easily spotted wearing a bright t-shirt.

Info Booth VolunteersYou are the first face our registrants see so you are very important!

Your role is to welcome them to the Active Living Expo at WTCC and answer questions about the Blue Nose Marathon weekend.

There will be an information package provided prior to your shift. It is important that you become familiar with all three levels at the WTCC, the Scotiabank Centre, as well as the race events, and the many activities taking place during Blue Nose weekend.

Where there is a need, Info Booth volunteers maybe redirected during their shifts.

Kit Pick Up• Youth or Adult kit pick up is offered Friday and Saturday at the WTCC.• Youth, and 10K kit pick up are on Level 1.• 5K, Half, Full Marathon, and Marathon Team Relay kit pick up are on Level 2.• Both levels have Chip Activation.• Volunteers cross-check participant’s name, race events entered, and provides

the race kit including t-shirt to the participant.

Make sure runners know to activate their chip or they won’t get a time!

Point of Sale

Runner Services manages the Point of Sale (POS) system that processes fees for Race Entry – onsite on race weekend.

It is helpful, but not necessary, that volunteers have experience with a cash register and debit machine – our coordinators will show you the ropes.

POS is located on Level 1 of the WTCC.

Pre-shift training will be provided for this position.

On-site Registration• Volunteers assist walkers and runners who have yet to register for Blue

Nose events.

• You may be asked questions about the events so you need to be very familiar with Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon.

• In addition to registration questions, you may be asked about related topics such as t-shirt exchange, No Sweat policy, Sponsor registration, Charity Challenge to name a few.

• Registration is located on Level 1 of the WTCC.

Volunteer Centre

All volunteers must check in at the Volunteer Centre prior to their shift.

• Folks here assist with registering volunteers, providing t-shirts and making sure they have what they need before sending them out on their shift.

• Secure bag storage is available for our volunteers!

• They also provide some refreshment and snacks.

Distribution CentreLogistics Volunteers distribute pre ordered supplies to other committees such as:

Tools, office supplies, snacks, radios, etc.

We use carts to deliver and some items are heavy so expect to work in teams of two. This team also conduct inventory and repack supplies, outbound post event. Get ready to work those muscles!

If you are required to visit the Distribution Centre, it is located on the 3rd Floor of the WTCC and is open all three days during Event Weekend.
