On 5 December 2011, The New York
Times India Ink reported that the Indian
government had asked several social media
sites and internet companies, including Google ,
Facebook and Yahoo!, to "prescreen user
content from India and to remove disparaging,
inflammatory or defamatory content before it
goes online”.

offensive contents were regulated by means
of mail and MMS.
► Regulating personal mailbox , chat history or
history on sites like Facebook, Skype will not
be acceptable by each user.
► Each and every social media site gives
importance to the privacy settings, it
depends on user to make use of it.

user who are not comfortable with the
content.

We want Facebook to be a
place where people can discuss
things freely, while respecting the
rights and feelings of others, which
is why we already have policies
and on-site features in place that
enable people to report abusive
content. We will remove any
content that violates our terms,
which are designed to keep
material that is hateful,
threatening, incites violence or
contains nudity off the service.
Regulation on Social media has to be controlled
by the user’s themselves. It must be such form of
control that, it would not interfere with the general and
specific human and fundamental rights of the people,
in specific, the right to freedom of speech and
expression.
Specially in the worlds largest democracy.
