AUDIENCE FOR MY MAGAZINE

PRIMARY AUDIENCE The primary audience for my magazine is both male and females between the ages of 16 and 25. The audience have a part time or full time job, and are either in full time education or an apprenticeship. The audience is of a middle social class, and are of all ethnicities. The primary audience are interested in POP music and recent artists. They are interested in news about POP music, for example when a certain album is going to be released. The primary audience do not have a high income but do not have a really low income either. They work part time in retail, or full time with a music career, photography career, film career, and other creative jobs. They live with their family if they are younger but live in a flat on their own or with a partner if they are older. This is my primary audience because it is similar to the audience of popular POP music magazine Billboard. I have chosen this type of audience because it covers a lot of different people so the magazine would be more popular. It also allows me to plan and create a magazine using similar codes and conventions to give the same affect. The current plan for my magazine fits with the conventions of a magazine that has this primary audience.

SECONDARY AUDIENCE The secondary audience for my magazine is people under and over the target age range of 16-25. The audience are not in an apprenticeship or in secondary school but may go to University and do not have a job. They are interested in music but not necessarily POP music. The secondary audience lives in a flat or house with a group of people. The audience has a lot of free time and are able to read the magazine at any time. The secondary audience are either of a higher class or a lower class. The higher class have a higher income and can afford the magazine easily but are not the target audience due to the content. The lower class audience however may be interested in the content but may not want to purchase the magazine due to the price. This puts both high class and low class in the secondary audience. The secondary audience for my magazine is the audience that is not targeted but may still be interested in my magazine. My secondary audience is based on the research I have done into other POP music magazines. This is a common secondary audience for a POP music magazine aimed at the same demographic as my magazine.
