Pros:
Tradition architecture and zero cost for maintain
Online FW/DR upgrade without shutdown the system
No DRAM as buffer, no additional thermal and power safety method.
Cons:
No DRAM as buffer, the random read need twice ops
In the low queue deep application, can’ utilize the whole performance

Application trend
As more and more flash in market, the application want to change from low QD to deep QD to utilize the low layer hardware performance
The parallelization will help application increase the workload.
The hybrid solution like HD+Flash will shrink as too complex

New Sandforce controller will release in Q3/14.
Already have the product line to add DRAM to meet low latency application.
Move from SATA interface to NVME
