Clinical and financial experts shed light on market trending and real-world, end-user feedback.
DALLAS, TX — July 1, 2014 — MD Buyline announced today its Q2.2014 User Satisfaction Trending™
data is now available to MD Buyline members. By conducting end-user interviews, MD Buyline’s
industry experts evaluate real-world experiences with capital equipment and vendors’ service. Market
trending, end-user ratings and customer feedback help MD Buyline members compare and select their
next medical technology investment.
While keeping a pulse on customer experiences, MD Buyline’s experts also analyze healthcare market
trends, such as emerging technologies, recalls issued by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and
studies published by medical journals.
One technology that experienced notable market visibility and activity is the mammography system. In
a Market Intelligence Briefing™ report, which includes User Satisfaction Trending data, MD Buyline
clinical analyst Rachael Bennett provided insight into mammogram market trends, including
differences between 3-D and 2-D tomosynthesis systems, lack of existing vendor competition and
absence of a dedicated reimbursement code for 3-D.
Additionally, mammography systems have received recent attention due to the study “Breast Cancer
Screening Using Tomosynthesis in Combination With Digital Mammography” published in the Journal of
the American Medical Association. Ms. Bennett was interviewed by several national, leading news
sources, including The Wall Street Journal, Associated Press, Bloomberg, The Boston Globe and MIT
Technology Review, because of her expertise in mammography systems.
The study showed Hologic’s 3-D mammogram system (a vendor and technology covered by MD
Buyline’s User Satisfaction Trendingdata) when paired with traditional digital mammography was more
effective at finding breast cancers than traditional scans alone. Following the release of the study,
Siemens Healthcare announced it submitted an application to the FDA for its 3-D breast tomosynthesis
system. The Wall Street Journal interviewed Ms. Bennett again for her competitive intel of the
mammogram market.
MD Buyline members have access to clinical and financial insight from MD Buyline’s experts, including
