It is challenging to treat deeply seated non resectable tumors by radiation therapy.

Problem Statement

• Inefficiency in passive targeting (EPR) of fully developed tumors

• Hindrance posed by dense fibrous microenvironment of solid tumors

• Off target toxicity due to radiation

A strategy to intensify tumor damage and spare the healthy tissue is desirable.

A dual-targeting strategy using vessel-targeted-radiosensitizing gold nanoparticles and

conformal-image guided radiation therapy to specifically amplify damage in the tumor

This dual-targeting strategy could help maximize the therapeutic index by Increasing tumor damage Reducing the amount of radiation dose needed and therefore

limiting collateral damage to healthy tissues.
