Franklin D. Roosevelt worked hard to put his plan in place to bring American out of the Great Depression in the 1930s. His plan was called the “New Deal.”

Was a flurry of activity….passing laws that would help those in America who were hurting.

One of the first things that FDR did to help stop the financial crisis of the Great Depression:

Declare a bank holiday! All banks across the nation were ordered to close for a short period of time until a plan could be devised so that everyone would be able to withdraw their money that they needed.

When the U.S. Supreme Court ordered that some of the New Deal laws were unconstitutional….

Roosevelt unsuccessfully attempted to add Justices to the Supreme Court who would favor his legislative ideas!
