IV-E-: – Research Methodology

Preamble ;

The purpose of this module is to enable the trainee to obtain a

practical knowledge of conducting a research project. This will

include the ability to develop an area of interest, to search for

and analyse the background on the subject and to undertake a

literature search, to define the aims and objectives of the study, to

decide on a study design, to identify the study sample, sampling

methods, sample size and to decide on methods of data collection

and handling and analysis. It will be necessary to learn to consider

ethical issues. The ability to utilize this information to prepare a

research protocol will be necessary. The construction of a

timetable for the research, it’s conduction and completion are

necessary skills to acquire. Writing and presentation skills of

the research are additional benefits from this module. On

completion of the study the resulting paper should be

presented to and approved by a committee appointed by the

Dermatology&Venereology Dept.
