2. Comfort Keepersof La Porte and Porter Counties 3. Our Story
The La Porte and Porter County offices of Comfort Keepers were started by Susan Lindgren, RN, BSN and Dave Lindgren, in July 2002. They founded their company as they saw both an immediate and future need in their area for the services Comfort Keepers offers. The need for these services was exemplified with an episode several years ago with Susan's father. After suffering a mild stroke, the Lindgren's began to care for him by preparing his meals. Shortly after, it became evident that her father needed additional living assistance, but was not at the point of requiring full-time care at an assisted living or nursing home facility. They took him into their home, but soon discovered that this imposed a burden on the entire family, both emotionally and financially. After searching in vain for non-medical assistance, they decided to enter into this business in order to alleviate the stress most families and caregivers feel when caring for a loved one.
