The 11th Annual Answers for Autism Walk
September 17, 2011Carmel, Indiana

I am Lauren Kay Boswell
Your 2011 National American Miss
Indiana Pre-Teen
I volunteered my time at the 11th annual Answers for Autism Walk
Did you know…1 in 91 children are diagnosed with Autism?
People with autism usually have difficulty understanding language and social behavior.
Today there is no cure for autism but progress can be made, thanks to dietary regimens, behavioral
therapy and various medications.
Balloons were released at the start the race.
The puzzle pieces used to symbolize autism reflect the mystery and complexity of
autism.
Participants were presented with
medals when they crossed the
finish line.
I was blessed to share the day with many wonderful and amazing families.
Children with autism just want to be accepted and treated with love and respect.
Don’t be puzzled… accept autistic children for who they are. Make them feel loved, accepted and
respected.
I am thankful for also sharing this day with other Indiana girls wanting to make a difference in the
world.
