Introduction Educational administrator Cissy Lewis possesses

experience as both a dean and an English teacher. She has dedicated much of her professional life to educating young people in the Palo Alto, California area. Outside of her teaching duties, Cissy Lewis helps girls in Nepal get an education through the Little Sisters Fund.

In Nepal, like in many developing nations, young girls face tremendous barriers to education. Many families will consider paying to send a male child to school, while young girls are kept home and encouraged to work. These girls frequently fall victim to child labor, child marriage, and human trafficking.

Little Sisters Fund The Little Sisters Fund helps girls in Nepal pay

for and gain access to education. Individual girls can be sponsored for $3,500, which will cover one child’s entire educational expenses for 10 years. The organization also works with local government and semi-private schools via the School Sponsorship Program. This community-based program has allowed the organization to send more than 1,500 girls to 70 schools throughout Nepal.
