2. Foreign policy is the way that the U.S., and other
countries, conduct their business and relations with each
other.
3. The President can make foreign policy either through
independent action, in which he goes and makes the policy without
congress, or proposals for legislation, where he comes up with a
plan and presents it to congress.
4. {Congress can make foreign policy through legislative
pressure, and congressional oversight, in which they oversee and
directly influence the conducting of foreign policy. Congressional

5. The Monroe Doctrine was articulated by president James
Monroe, and essentially stated that the European powers need to
stay out of the western hemisphere and our affairs, in order to
keep the idea of democracy, and our way of life, safe. It was
important because the eastern ways of government, the monarchy for
example, were so different from our own form of government that we
didnt want them interfering and spreading their government into the
western hemisphere.
6. { NATO is a peacekeeping international organization stands
to promote democratic values and in the long run prevent foreign
conflict. NATO monitors the Mediterranean, and also operates in
Afghanistan to try to promote peace and prosperity. NATO
7. The United Nations interacts in foreign policy in many ways,
such as serving as a peacekeeping organization and providing relief
for war-torn countries. One of their missions right now is
providing relief for Palestinian refugees.
8. { The World Hunger Organizations missions include, educating
the general public about the extent of hunger and malnutrition and
promoting individual and collective commitments to sustainable
hunger solutions. The WHO reports on crises such as the African
hunger crisis, and the hunger problem in America as well. World

9. Foreign policy affects all of us, even the average Joe.
Relations with other countries can affect the goods that Americans
can purchase and the availability of other necessities such as
gasoline. What our country does affects all of our daily lives in
more ways than one.
