This video provides an overview of what we

have achieved so far.

Our solar

miles to study for six months at Barefoot College

in Rajasthan, and become solar engineers.

The solar grandmothers project has already helped

hundreds of people like Lakshmi to have electricity

and light, as the video below shows.

Our medical

projects

The Shechen

Medical Centre in

Bodhgaya treated

more than 24,000

people in 2013.

The medical centre has helped tackle

many preventable diseases such as

tuberculosis, diarrhoea and typhoid,

which if go untreated, can prove fatal.

As well as expert medical care, the

centre also has an onsite pathology

laboratory, which can conduct a

range of tests and analysis.

This means patients do not need to fear

if a family member becomes ill.

Thanks to the medical centre, getting sick

is not longer life threatening.

Bodhgaya and

provide medical

which visit rural

villages around

We also fund

mobile clinics,

care to those

that cannotreach the centre.

In 2013, the mobile clinics served more

than 24,500 people from 18 rural villages.

The majority of the patients are women

and children, who have previously never

had any access to healthcare.

Our medical centre and mobile clinics are helping some of the

most vulnerable people in India. But we need your help to

continue the good work, and reach even more people.

Our

environmental

projects

As well as personal development, we are

committed to encouraging sustainable environmental change.

Recently, 1,000 kitchen

gardens were created. By

providing seeds and plants,

families are encouraged to

grow their own food. This

ensures they have a constant

supply of fresh vegetables.

The rainwater harvesting project has given

people access to a reliable source of water all year round.

This means they now have clean,

safe water to use for cooking, gardening and washing.

Through this, we protect people’s health, and provide an

environmental solution to water shortages.

Our environmental

projects are also

involved in the

distribution of

sustainable jute bags,

reducing the

dependence on plastic

bags which clog

streets and landfills

across the world.

Our social

projects

Through our non-formal education projects, we support women

and children by empowering them to change their lives through

personal development.

For example, the candle making project teaches a skill that allows

them to make a product they can sell at markets, providing an

income for their families.

They also teach

women basic

skills in literacy.

This means they

can participate

fully in society.

Women learn to

read using

normal teaching

materials, and

everyday items.

We work with the local pre-schools

and authorities in Bihar to provide

children with toys to aid development.

Training is also provided to teachers, so

they are better qualified to stimulate and improve learning.

The yoga classes

aid mental,

physical and

spiritual wellbeing.

With your

support, we

can help even

more people.

And play our

part in

protecting

the planet.

With your help, Shining Hope

Foundation can expand on these

ground-breaking and sustainable

projects, to make lasting change to

some of the most vulnerable

people in India.
