The Da Vinci Collaborative presented findings, plans and proposals to the Dayton City Commission on June 4, 2014. As a partner in the DaVinci Collaborative, the City has been working with other organizations including CityWide to lay out a comprehensive community development plan to improve the Old North Dayton and McCook Field neighborhoods.

CityWide engaged in 2012 to lead comprehensive community development effort.

Target Geography: Old North Dayton and McCook Field neighborhoods and the business community around it.

Governance: the DaVinci Investors: Led by Dayton Children’s City of Dayton Greater Old North Dayton Business Association The Salvation Army KROC Center CityWide Advisors: St. Mary CDC, UD Fitz Center

Goal: Develop a neighborhood revitalization plan which leverages community assets, maximizes investment and builds value for all.

An asset and place-based approach for guiding and

leveraging investment to maximize impact and build value………… sometimes described as:

Green and Gold – A Framework for nurturing and growing Dayton’s assets while guiding the greening of the new smaller Dayton.

Transportation Strategy model is Greater Rubicon Park Transportation

Strategy: Aligning & linking economic development with transportation

improvements to retain & grow job base. Reimaging of primary corridors. 5 to 10 year horizon.

Strategy Leverage infrastructure funding committed: $34M+ Identify federal & state fund sources for roadway improvements &

deadlines. Reviewed award criteria and competitiveness.

Transportation Strategy presented to community groups & received unanimous support. City Plan Board Approval May 20. City Commission will review: June 18th.

Proposed Solution: Way-finding

Work with the Navigational Loop envisioned using Valley, Stanley & Keowee Streets.

Other Key Streets: Leo, Webster, Troy.

Way-finding

Have consistent, visible signage that will increase access to existing business for customers, visitors, & employees.

Provide an opportunity for marketing/branding of the entire community – improve the community confidence quotient.
