Size The tiger shark commonly attains a length of 10 ft. 8 in–13 ft. 11 in. and weighs around 849–1,400 lb. Sometimes, an exceptionally large male tiger shark can grow up to13 ft. 1 in. Females are larger, and exceptionally big ones can reportedly measure over 16 ft. 5 in.

Although sharks rarely bite humans, the tiger shark is reported to be responsible for a large percentage of fatal shark attacks, and is sometimes regarded as one of the most dangerous shark species. They often visit shallow reefs, harbors, and canals, creating the potential for encounter with humans.

What does tiger shark eat?Tiger sharks are noted for having the widest food spectrum of all sharks. They can eat almost anything, from turtles to birds, as well as other sharks and fish. Besides normal prey they even eat garbage like tires, nails or car license plates, as sometimes documented by examinations of their stomach contents.

HabitatThe tiger shark is often found close to the coast, mainly in tropical and subtropical waters throughout the world. Its behavior is primarily nomadic, but is guided by warmer currents, and it stays closer to the equator throughout the colder months.
