Categories of plastics are:
ThermoplasticThese are polymers that become moldable above a specific temperature and, and returns to a solid state upon cooling. Example: Polythene, PVC, HDPE, LDPE Polypropylene, Polystyrene, Polycarbonate, etc.
Categories of plastics are: Thermosetting PlasticThermosetting plastics are soft, solid or viscous polymers that change irreversibly into an infusible, insoluble polymer an heating. Example: Plastics used in electrical switches, handles, PET, etc.
Plastics are synthetic
or semi synthetic
organic polymers.
Plastics are cheap, attractive and easy to carry.
Advantages Of Plastics
Plastics are
commonly
derived from
petrochemic
als.
On heating, plastics melt and can be molded into different shapes.
Advantages Of Plastics
Disadvantages Of Plastics
These are not eco-friendly.
These are Non-renewable resources.
It takes hundreds of years to decompose plastics.
These are not bio- degradable.
Why is plastic a curse for
mother earth?
Plastic debris, laced with chemicals and often ingested by marine animals, can injure or poison wildlife.
