We have chosen to set the music video in a realistic setting, to add a sense of naturalism to the scene. We feel the lyrics of the song represent everyday life, and so we wanted to reflect this in our music video, and thus the setting.

The music video begins in a bedroom, which is simplistic and spacious, allowing us to add our own creativity to it.

The only other setting which will feature is of an alleyway, bordered by trees as will feel it would look quite effective and it requires minimal input for it is already suitable for us to film in.

LIGHTING: We want to create the effect of night time and so when filming inside the bedroom, we will need to use dark blinds and dim lighting in order to portray this to the audience.

When shooting outside in the alleyway, we will have to wait until night time to film, and then make use of the street lights already in place, adding to the naturalistic feel of the video.

We think that props could be a distraction from the main action within the music video, and so we have tried not to get too involved with this aspect of production.

However we do feature the use of books through out the opening of our music video, as they are directly reflective of the lyrics. We think that the use of these books will hopefully create a visual metaphor of the relationship portrayed in the lyrics of the song.

We decided to use low key lighting, and have used two different coloured table lamps, to keep the look edgy and creative.

We have tried a few different costume ideas, including contrasting coloured t-shirts (black and white) and also colourful t-shirts.

We have decided to keep a casual, natural and fashionable style to the clothes used in our video, suitable to the indie genre.

We think that the emphasis should be on the action within the shot, rather than on the costumes, because we don’t want it to draw attention away from the lyrics and music. Therefore the overall costume will be simple, but complementary of the genre.

From watching previous Tegan and Sara music videos we have noted that their make-up like their clothing is normally very natural and simple, and so we want to stick to this theme.

We have played around with different looks, including the use of lipstick and eyeliner.

However we have decided that a minimalistic style of make-up is the most appropriate for the video, again reflecting the naturalistic approach we are hoping to present.

We have chosen not to style the hair obviously, to keep all the attention on the action and music.

We chose our actors on the pretence that they would suit this natural approach to styling.
