Although these images where decent enough, to use for my music magazine I

found that whenever I took the background off, using the magic eraser on Adobe

Photoshop the boy’s jacket also came off, and the shadows also made it harder to

remove the background ,also the lighting was not brilliant. Furthermore one mistake I

made was only taking mainly mid – shots which although would be good for my

contents page , I needed some long shots so you could see the boy’s designer clothes which would attract , young aspirers to buy

my music magazine and give it a more authentic look and making it fit in more

within the hip – hop genre.

When removing the background the jacket also

came off

The main reason why I did not use these images for my music magazine was

because , even though this time I had taken a range of shots ,e.g. mid – shot ,

close-up and a long shot. The boy’s spiky hair was annoying to remove , because it was hard to get into the little corners and when I converted the file it did not look professional .Also his facial expressions did not resemble of the tough , hard, hip hop genre even though he is not smiling he has a straight face , and to me it did

not give the hard core image I wanted to pursue in order to make this a successful

hip – hop magazine.

Even though the lighting was not amazing on these photos , they where decent enough to use , but as the images

where taken at an angle and I needed a straight on shot , so I decided to flip the images and in doing that ,the

writing had reversed and it looked like the boy wore the shirt the wrong way around, which would not be a good form of advertising. Another problem I encountered was

that the jacket and jeans where dark black and blended in with my background so it looked as if the boy only had a shirt on and in the side ways photo you could not see the writing, which did not advertise anything, and so did not

appeal to the hip – hop genre, where people like to see big brands on big celebrities and compare themselves to the

big shots and in theory, buying the same clothes that they have.

I did not use these photos simply because , I believe they did not fit

into the hip-hop genre, as the checked shirt in both images

resembles a more indie look and the added guitar gives a rocky

effect making it bear a resemblance to the indie rock

genre, and not hip –hop. If I used these images my magazine will look multi-genre , and would not appeal to the spefic aspirers ,

which I am hoping for.

Resembles indie rock

I believe that these images , would be used in a fashion

magazine , as they are stylish, plain clothes with no designer labels and to me

shows how to dress fashionably rather then appealing to the hip-hop

genre . In the first photo the girl is pulling her jacket

collars up ,showing off the jacket and does not really look anything associated

with hip-hop music.

FRONT COVER DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD

I chose this picture for my double page spread , because it is the main

artist which my interview is about ,also in the photo the boy is

standing tall and goes well with the article “my life in the big world”…. The lighting is good and his facial

expressions are decent, it looks as if he is smiling and so it will encourage

people to read my article.

Standing tall , hands in pockets – resembles a typical person interested in the hip-hop genre.

I chose this picture for my main image on my front page because the

model is looking

directing into the camera and you can

see the branding on his T-Shirt

CONTENTS PAGE

I chose this picture for my contents page – as I needed a mid-shot in my magazine and , I also needed to use a girl in my magazine as it is multi-gender and I want my magazine to appeal to both genders to boost my sales , also it is plain and simple as I didn’t wanted to crowd my magazine with too many branded photos , as it will look like my magazine , is for a upper social class and so teenagers

and young adults will be put off buying it.

I chose this picture for my contents page – because it resembled the hip-hop genre, was plain and the lighting was good making it look like a good

photo to use.
