* Physiological Responses* Expressive Behaviors* Cognitive Responses

Learn to stay in control of your emotions in order to make good logical choices in difficult situations

* The Automatic Nervous Systemhas two parts:

The Sympathetic System* It is responsible for physiologicaland expressive behaviors. How?* It secretes adrenalin,increases your breathing, etc.

The Parasympathetic System* It does the opposite* It calms the body back down, i.e. secreting non-adrenalin, slowing your breath down.

you can activate the Parasympathetic System manually just by taking deep breaths and stopping

aggressive thoughts.

* It takes mental power to overcome negative emotions.

* Each time you notice the symptoms of negative emotions described in Part 1:

* Stop, do not say anything & think* Take a deep breath* Count to ten, tune into self-talk* Think constructive, not destructive

* This ability to recognize which feelings are appropriate in which situations and the skill to monitor those feelings effectively is also called:

This is a simple yes/no self-assessment, be open and honest. Recognizing your true strengths and

weaknesses is the first step to better yourself
