Key Elements..• Main Title
The main titles in the DVD Cover are “Michael Jackson” and “Bad”. The title “Michael Jackson” is big and bold due to the white coloured font. This represents Michael to be quite big and successful and pure. However this contrasts with the other title “Bad” which is written in red and a graffiti font. This shows a different side to Michael Jackson’s usual clean image. It gives him a more rebellious image.
• Main ImageThe main image of Michael Jackson represents him to be a very successful entertainer. This is shown through his costume and the electrical effects around the image representing him to be “electrifying”
• Spine TitleThe Spine Title has been used in order to help people find the DVD without taking it out of a box set/DVD stack. It is a very important convention as most DVDs have them.
• The event that is being captured in the DVD Cover is a live Michael Jackson tour that took place In Japan.
• It is targeting Michael Jackson fans due to the fact that it is a live tour. Also it is mainly targeting middle class/working class people due to the fact that it is a DVD format and people who work will be able to afford it.
• The artist and his music are represented to be very lively and funky due to the red and yellow colour scheme. Also the back cover images show Michael looking very happy whilst performing therefore suggesting he enjoys his music. This is also reinforced in the main image due to the fact that he is singing into the microphone. This also shows that he is very committed to his music.
• The DVD Cover gives out several messages about the live tour. It allows fan’s who weren’t able to see the tour live view it at home on their TV. By putting lots of images of Michael Jackson performing it attracts the audience and makes them want to watch it.

Action line
As stated it says experience in high
definition which relates to it being in blue ray which is shown at the font of the cover as
well this demonstrates what the quality of the
DVD would be like.
Format logo to define what the quality would be like and the
developed new technology would be of more appeal so it makes it
more appealing.
Here we have general information about the running time and any technical
specification which doesn’t necessarily appeal so much to the audience but just gives them some background info about
the dvd.
The event that is being captured through this dvd cover is the songs from Mariah Careys cd that could be from her all time hits or simply songs that are well known for
being hers. This would be targeting an audience who would be interested in R n B music, typically females. This image of Mariah Carey as a glamorous figure would therefore be influential towards this female audience that this is how they should
be.
The way in which I know this is that the designs are very feminine like with the pink swirls on the back cover for instance. If it was more neutral and not as glam then it could be reaching out to possibly a male based audience as well. This would also be appealing to those who are into the quite modern r n b music genre. The dvd cover
appeals to quite a mainstream audience as she is well recognized and as an artist she has a very specific image from the front cover of her wearing this frily white dress
and on the back her sitting with a gold dress. Its all very fancy and once again glamourour typical sort of female represenation of an artist from this R n B genre.
The cover itself signifies a lot about the artist even to an audience who may not necessarily be aware of her.Consequently, just by seeing this imagery and simply the
designs on the cover its reflects her as an artist as well her music. For instance the fact that there is this bold image of the gold microphone which is unique and
therefore connotes her as being an unique artist.
This dvd cover is vital for the branding of the artist as it represents her music and although the music is the main factor of the dvd the cover has a huge impact on
making a difference to appealing to its target audience. The dvd cover represents this idea of the title of the dvd the Adventures of Mimi and so the message is gives is that
the track list would be high quality most likely be her best hits of all times and therefore be a combination of her tracks from her cd if not cds.

Written in handwriting style, to seem more ‘personal’ to the audience. As if its direct from the artist themselves.
Spine Title
Follows same typography and colour pattern, makes it easy for consumer to find on a shelf.
The event being captured is a Live concert performance of an album or a mix of songs in Wembley by Beyoncé.This product may target people who are into R&B, more specifically females. Other artists they might be into include, Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey and Mary J Blidge. You can tell the product is targeting young Beyoncé fans who may aspire to be like her. You can tell this by the striking colours, the bold typography and the continuous theme of fame and stardom. These are all things that would appeal to this typical target audience.
The artist is represented as strong and sophisticated yet very wealthy. This is evident by the type of clothes she is wearing (which looks expensive) as well as the skilled make-up/hair styles. She looks really glossy and sparkly which represents novelty. The shot of the singer looks very polished and professional rather than natural which also connotes wealth and fame.
The cover says to the target audience that this product is one not worth missing out on. This product may be available at any time and not just to promote one album. It may act as a collectors item and may be important to some fans. The striking conventions force the target audience to pay attention and the fact that the only image is of Beyoncé alone, directly facing the camera, may create a more personal feel for the target audience. As if she is performing exclusively for them.
