FILM 1 : A WALK TO REMEMBER

Main girl starts to sing to the boy during school play

Denotation : singing

Connotation : expressing her feelings through the song.

Music :Very calm, romantic, suitable for the moment. Famous song called :only hope, which has everything to do with the film

A WALK TO REMEBER Conventions of genre: the way he just stares at her in shock as she is looking so pretty and delicate, different from how she usually dresses.

Mood/ atmosphere : romantic

Target audience : from ages 15 to 21. shown by the age of the main characters of the story. Also where it is mainly set (school) emphasises the target audience.

Lighting: spotlight used to focus on just her.

Costume : her clothes very elegant showing her figure in a very innocent and respectful manner.

FILM 2: DRAG ME TO HELL When the girl is in bed she

suddenly hears the wind from outside coming in, she wakes up with a sudden nightmare, she looks back she the old lady is behind her in her bed.

Denotation: shivering

Connotation : shows how frightened she is .

Mood/atmosphere : traumatizing, creepy, frightening.

Conventions of genre: slow motion of the main innocent character as she is turning back and sees the old disturbing looking lady lying behind her in bed.

DRAG ME TO HELL

Lighting: very dim at times of horror, but very light when everything is calm

Costume/props : the old lady’s fake teeth, very effective and the staples.

Target audience : 15 to 25. under 15’s would be a little scared and would most probably dream about it during the night.

Music : slow music during the calm moments but then pace suddenly gets faster as suspense is created

FILM 3: TITANIC Famous ‘flying’ scene of the loving couple.

Connotation : shows the love and care between this couple

Denotation: holding arms

Lighting: vivid light throughout until the tragedy.

Mood/ atmosphere : happiness, conflicts, love throughout the whole films and sadness at the end.

Conventions of genre: all the romanticism and perfect love in stories always end with some kind of tragedy. And always contain that main kissing scene.

Music : very sad but beautiful song that will go through generation to generation
