EASTON ELLIS ON A NEW SCRIPT?

After working together on a Scott Disick-starring spoof of the author‟s controversial American Psycho in promotion of Yeezus, Kanye West and Bret Easton Ellis are at work on yet another collaboration. In an interview with MTV News the novelist/screenwriter revealed that he has been meeting with Yeezy in preparation for a brand new script. Although details are currently scant, it seems highly plausible –especially given the themes explored by Ellis throughout his work – that the two could be prepping for the visual accompaniment to yet another Yeezus track.

DOLCE & GABBANA COULD CLOSE ITS DOORS

It looks like the trouble is far from over for Dolce & Gabbana„seponymous designers following the tax evasion scandal that resulted in prison sentences of 20 months for the label‟s namesakes. In speaking to Vogue UK, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbanaconfirmed that they would indeed close their label should they ultimately have to pay the entirety of the €343.3 million EUR (approximately $455 million USD) fine that‟s been levied against them. “We will close,” said Dolce. “What do you want us to do? We will close. We will not be able to deal with it. It‟s impossible.” The pair have already closed their nine storefronts in Milan after the city‟s mayor publicly spoke out against the designers and their alleged crimes. Dolce & Gabbana were convicted of tax evasion in Italy back in June in a verdict stemming from the label‟s controversial 2004 sale to Luxembourg‟s Gado Srl.

Guangzhou‟s Nike Brand Experience store was the stage for LeBron James„s latest stop on his China Tour. In addition to meeting legions of his adoring fans, James took the opportunity to show off the Nike LeBron X “Championship Pack” in-the-flesh before giving lucky fans the experience of a lifetime when he signed their shoes. Basketball wasn‟t the sole focus as James also got a chance to meet several prominent players from the local soccer club and two-time Chinese Super League champions Guangzhou Evergrande F.C. Capping off his Guangzhou visit was a stop at LOFT345, an underground art space, bar and exhibition space where local rappers gave James an impromptu performance, prompting him to step up to the mic to drop a verse. A-TRAK AND RUN-D.M.C

n a traditional hip-hop romantic of „old meets new,‟ adidas Originals has brought together Run-D.M.C. and A-Trak as a part of their Unite All Originals campaign. Aside from the artists‟ different contexts, the campaign makes sense. Run-D.M.C. has a longstanding relationship with adidas following the release of a certain 1986 single, that which helped bring hip-hop into popularity, while A-Trak has played an integral role in meshing rap with electronic music. The two parties have been certified „original‟ by adidas, who is cooking up a special project involving both. While many were clearly enamored with the A.P.C. KANYE capsule collection – the entirety of which has already sold out – at least one man was a little flabergasted with the collaboration between Kanye West and Jean Touitou –satirical news anchor Stephen Colbert. Colbert recently weighed in on the pieces, especially the 100% cotton, neckline ribbing, and short sleeves of the “Hip-Hop Shirt.” The man loves him some “hip-to-the-hop rapitty rap rap” and, seemingly inspired by the “greatest rapper alive,” goes on to unveil a new piece of clothing of his own design: Hip-Hop Couture Tube Socks. With his long-awaited sophomore album a little over a month away, Big Sean unveils the covers to his upcoming Hall of Fame LP. Designed by the DONDA collective, Big Sean stoops down low and poses on the fluorescent standard and deluxe edition covers. Arriving August 27, the album is lead by the single “Beware” featuring Lil‟ Wayne and Jhené Aiko. Expect appearances from Kanye West, Nas, Kid Cudi, Miguel, Ellie Goulding, Common, and more.

First revealed on Instagram earlier, Sean cleverly covered the album‟s tracklisting as he showed off the inside packaging and covers.

HACKING LEGEND DIES

Hacker Barnaby Jack, perhaps best known for discovering insecurities in pacemakers that could be exploited with fatal results, has died in San Francisco, Reuters reports. He was 35. His death comes just a week before he was scheduled to present more information on his pacemaker hack at an information security conference. Reuters did not have any details about the cause of death.

Jack was last employed by the cyber security consulting firm IOActive Inc, and specialized in embeddable devices (like the computers one finds in ATMs or medical devices). Jack worked as a white-hat hacker, looking for flaws in systems so that they could be fixed. One of his earlier exploits was finding a flaw in insulin pumps that made it possible for someone to remotely deliver fatal doses of insulin. He also, famously, found a vulnerability in ATMs that made them spit out money, as seen in the video above. By figuring out how to exploit these systems, Jack provided information that companies needed to make their products more secure.
