- speak out their view about the position of women in our society- understand the life of women without freedom and their agony

Content Analysis: ‘Women’ is a beautiful poem written by the American poet Louise

Bogan. She presents the life of a woman without freedom and about

her agony in life. She says that it is very hard to break these barriers of

life for a woman. ‘wilderness’, ‘content’, ‘provident’ etc are the new

words introduced in the poem.

Pre requisites: Children might have awareness about the life of unemployed middle

class and lower class women. They might understand the agonies of

women who are denied freedom.

Teaching- Learning Resources: Course book, source book, power point presentation

of the picture and profile of writer, video clipping of the film ‘How

Old Are You’, video showing the name and photo of famous and

successful women, pictorial representation of the lines in the poem,

picture of vocabulary items.

Formative Evaluation Procedure: Comprehension questions, classroom activities, review questions etc.

Teacher introduced the poem ‘Only Daughter’ by Louise Bogan. Teacher tells that the life of a woman is confined to the limited world of domesticity. And their life without freedom is hard and painful. Louise Bogan tells us the agonies of women who are denied freedom.
