Student Work Sorting Protocol

Take out Handout #2 “Quick Sort Protocol”

Setting the Stage: Steps 1 and 2 The teacher explains the goals of the work, how it was delivered

and any additional supports or differentiation that occurred.

The teacher describes how the work will be evaluated, reviewing the rubric/criteria etc.

Sorting: Step 3 Quickly discuss how to analyze the work, what will you look for,

how will you determine the different levels.

Organize into 4 piles

Analyze and Reflect: Steps 4 and 5 Identify the strengths and challenges evident in each pile of

student work. (site specific examples)

Evaluate the effectiveness of the assignment in meeting its intended purpose. What worked well, what might need to be changed?
