Agra, India; Riga, Latvia; Moscow, Russia; Ljubljana, Slovenia; Taipei, Taiwan and

Washington, D.C., Denver, Syracuse, Baltimore, Tulsa, Huntsville, USA for librarians & IT training, workshop, visitors program, and intern.

• Doorcontrollocally programmed client-server

software since 20039 modules:

user registration, entrance pass, in-house “self” check-out, in-house check-in, home loan check-out, home loan check-in, internet access screen, daily reports, and administration

Implemented only in Central Public library, not yet in branches

Home loan check-in module is running in book return librarians computer

By user registration moduleWho are going to use library

resources, you must be a valid registration.

To register for 1 year library service, you must pay registration fee, depending by your age, except librarian, 1-5th grade pupil, and blinds.

Since long time ago librarians, since 2006 blinds, since Feb. 2011, 1-5th grade pupils are free on registration.

Before 1990, user registration was free for all.

9647 new, 4796 re-new,

288 free registrations, and 38.5 million tugrik paid

by them for library budget.

By entrance passUPL used to use library plastic card in

1999-2003. Now all service based on borrower database with photo and PIN code, so we don’t have library card to save public money.

Who are with valid registration, their photo will appear on screen, after they type their library id number.

After pass this entrance, user can freely use library resources, walk between open stacks, meet reference librarian, to read paper based materials, books, periodicals, etc and public computer with internet.

152526 readers 203868 times passed

the entrance computer on reception, but unique 17410 readers.

By book circulationLibrary book circulation statistic based

on site reading. Because it’s free.Starting Feb, 2011 library administration

decreased home loan service fee, daily fee to each title 100 tugrik from 300 tugrik.

Before 1990, home loan was free.In-house check out registration made by

each borrowers, who are going to read on site.

In-house check in and home loan, return books made by librarian.

Still we are keeping traditional way to keep borrower’s citizen’s id in library, whose borrowed books at home.

336392 titles by in-house free reading,

91851 titles by home loan service with daily fee, and overdue fee

33 million tugrik paid by borrowers.

By internet access screenMaybe UB Central Public Library

is only one public library with free public internet in Mongolia.

Free public internet service started in 2003 with 2 computers.

It’s continued by 6 computers of American Center in 2004.

This service extended by 12 computers from KOICA support in 2011.

So, one of the favorite services!

13003 users 14993 times freely use public

internet on 18 computers
