Quantitative Management information needs

How many downloads from Ingenta per month? How many downloads from SpringerLink for a specific

faculty? How many searches in ScienceDirect per year/faculty? How many print journals do we also have as e-Journals?


Qualitative Management information needs

How do people find databases? Do people find the databases they need? How do people get to full text?


Answer We don’t know….. Or rather:

In SFX: so many, divided over IP ranges A..Z In SpringerLink: so many for University as a whole In MetaLib: so many Etc….


General issues Large number of sources Differences in type of data and presentation Standards not universally applied (COUNTER, SUSHI) No automatic linking of sources Divided responsibilities:
