Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion
Introduction
You are an enthusiastic teacher. Your centre manager has told you
that she has heard about something new being used in other centres:
webquests. Your manager is giving you a week to find out about
webquests. She’ll then decide if they are worth using in
the centre.
Task
In order to give your manager the information she needs, you have to uncover
the What, Who, When, Where and Why of webquests. When you have this
information, you will summarise it, present the answers to your manager, and
be prepared to answer any questions she might have about the use of
webquests.

Step 1
1 The first thing you’ll look for is the What of webquests.
You are looking for a definition of what webquests are.
Read Some thoughts about webquests to get you started.
Then write your own definition in the ’What’ section of
the ‘Wh document’.
Step 2

2. Snapshot in time
3. Was it murder?

Step 2
In order to get a clear sense of when webquests are used, who is using them
and where they are being used, you need to take a closer look at three of the
webquest examples provided. After you have looked at the examples, fill out
the Who, When and Where sections of the ‘Wh document’.
Step 3
Process
Step 3
The last piece of information you need to gather before presenting material to
your manager relates to Why webquests are being used in centres. To do this
successfully, you need to think about the definition you created as a part of your
earlier research and consider the webquest examples you looked at. Then on
your ‘Wh document’ write a
short summary paragraph that states why you think
webquests are popular.

Step 4
Your manager didn’t specifically mention that you needed this, but you know
from previous experience that she’s going to want a way to tell whether a
webquest is any good. To be ready for this, you’re going to try out the
webquest evaluation form for one of the webquests listed below.
