The first waffles were made in China but lacked the key ingredients like milk, and eggs.

In London 1734, a cook was making pancakes for a customer, and steak for another when his wife called for him. He was pounding on the steak to tenderize it. He accidentally pounded on the pancake. When the cook turned back to see the pancake he saw all the indents in the pancake, the cook found out he could pour syrup onto the pancake without it falling off the side. When he was finished, the cook rushed it out to the customer when he slipped and broke his neck and died instantly. The wife then sold the idea of the waffle to an entrepreneur named James Shoney.

The waffle was made of some simple ingredients which are batter, milk, eggs, and a little bit of salt.
