Mission StatementUnited States Volunteers-Joint Services

Command• The USV-JSC is an organization focused on

augmenting the Regular and Reserve forces in providing trained and uniformed volunteers who may be called upon to render military honors to deceased veterans at national and local cemeteries, We call it “BOOTS ON Graves” The USV-JSC is an authorized Department of Defense Military Funeral Honors provider.

Federal Emergency Management Agency

FEMA

• USV-JSC Secondary is mission is to have a trained and available cadre for supplementing Federal, State and Local authorities in the event of a National Emergency or Natural disaster.

Purpose of Training

• All members of the USV-JSC are required to complete a prescribed course of indoctrination training regardless of veteran status.

Course Delivery

• This training cycle will be delivered via internet.

• Personnel will complete within first 30 days of affiliation.

• Personnel will complete at own pace from home.

Expected Outcome

• All new members will have a basic overview and understanding of the USV-JSC mission and core values.

Indoctrination Completion

• At completion of the online training, Each individual will be given a multiple choice exam that must be completed with a 90%. There is no time limit and is considered an open book exam.

Standards of Conduct

• All USV-JSC members will conduct themselves in a professional military manner at all times, whether in uniform or not.

Professional Relationships

• All USV-JSC members will refrain from using the influence of membership in the USV-JSC for personal gain . This includes interactions with other members or the general public.

Military Ethics

• Military ethics will be observed at all times whether in uniform or not.

Military JusticeUCMJ

• Members of the USV-JSC are not specifically under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, however members should be aware of its rules and regulations and be cognizant of it in the event of mobilization or while on a Military reservation.

Job Performance

• All members are expected to perform their assigned tasks in a professional military manner.

Drug and Alcohol Abuse

• Drug and Alcohol abuse will not be tolerated by members of the USV-JSC. For issues please refer to your chain of command or a USV-JSC chaplain.

Equal Opportunity and Treatment

• Members of the USV-JSC will be treated fairly and given equal opportunity regardless of gender, age, sexual preference, race, religion, creed or national origin. Any suspected violation will be investigated thoroughly by the local commanding officer and dealt with accordingly.

Financial Responsibility

• All members need to exercise personal financial responsibility as not to bring discredit to the USV-JSC and themselves.

Political Activities

• All members are prohibited from any and all political activities while in uniform.

• All members are also prohibited from using the USV-JSC name for any political correspondence, whether written or implied verbally.

Public Statements

• All USV-JSC members are prohibited from making any public statements while in uniform regarding anything other than Mission and history of USV-JSC.

• All members are required to wear the uniform of the day for any activity involved in.

• All members should be clean and well groomed to military standards at all times.

Personal Appearance in Civilian Clothes

• All members should dress appropriately with taste and modesty while in civilian clothing.

Physical Fitness

• All members should strive to remain active and as close to height and weight standards of the US Army as possible, which is based on age and gender.

Participation Requirements

• All members are asked to participate in a monthly Unit Training Assembly (UTA) which is generally held on a Saturday for 8 hours.

• Additional volunteer time for Military Funeral Honors and other special projects is always appreciated.

Identification Cards

• All members upon affiliation will be issued a Temporary USV-JSC ID card until a permanent ID can be issued.

• USV-JSC ID cards will not grant you access to a U.S. Military installation or other government facilities, so Do Not Try.

• Anyone attempting this will be discharged from the USV-JSC and may be proseucuted by military or government authorities.

Procurement of Uniform Items

• All members provide their own uniform items. Some small supplies may exist at different levels of the USV-JSC.

• Unit S-4’s (supply guys) are the best resource for needed and hard to find items.

• Members can only wear the medals they earned in the US Military or from the USV-JSC

• All members are required to complete certain correspondence courses based on rank. Please contact your S-3 (operations) officer for information.
