What was the U.S Civil War?The American Civil War (1861 - 1865) was
one of the most violent times in the History of
the United States, because it was a war
between the Northern and Southern states.
Why did the U.S. Civil War start?During the mid-1800s, the
Northern states wanted slavery
to end, and the Southern states
wanted slavery continue.
The south also wanted to have a
nation an make their own lawn.
However, the north did not want
the country to be divided.
Differences in the regionsIn the North, factories were build. They made
many kinds of products. Many people moved
from farms to cities. In the cities, they worked
in the factories.
The disagreement between the North and the South
The biggest disagreement between the North and the South was over states’ rights and slavery. Northern and Southern had argued about slavery for many years. By the mid-1800s, some Southerners didn’t like the way industry was growing in the North. Taxes on imports caused Southerners to buy most of the manufactured goods they needed from the North
Soon the question of slavery in the frontier lands became one of the biggest disagreements in the country. Most white Northers thought that slavery should stay in the South. Most white Southerners belived that slave owners had the right to take their slaves wherever they wanted.
