Why not CLIL?

Why not CLIL?CLIL UNIT PLANNAME: Ana R. GonzlezSUBJECT: Science

TITLE: Knowing myselfYEAR: 2n grande

Step 1: The driving question. What are the senses? How many senses do we have? What are they? What are they propose? Why do we need them? Do we all have the same senses?I have thought about doing the topic my senses because its a theme children really enjoy doing it because its very closed to them. Also because in this stage, children need to explore themselves and the others, and this topic its also good to create awareness that not everybody have all the senses because of medical problems among other reasons. Step 2: The preview of the whole unit Here it is the vocabulary that will come with the unit. There are also structures they will need to internalize to be able to success during the lessons planned. VocabularyStructures

Step 3: The easiest and hardest section of your unit. The easiest part of the unit would be learning the vocabulary related with senses and organs described previously in the chart (in orange). There are some words that sure they will know, such as the parts of the body, and the senses, as are the main words we will be working with, I think they would be able to learn them fast. The hardest part would be identify the parts of the body and the senses with their corresponding action and vocabulary related (look purple part in the chart) because this mean to put in context all the words and create sentences and communicate yourself with the rest. It is not only about learning some isolated words but it is also about put them in a real context.

Step 4: Law aspects.I will include these LOMCE standards in my unit plan: Linguistic and audio-visual competence: as they would need to talk and communicate their thoughts and ideas. Also as we would be using audio-visual tools they will be developing this competence too. Mathematical competence and basic competences in science and technology: in this case, we would focus in the basic competences in science so it is a science topic and they will use some experimental technics, observation Digital competence: as they would be in touch with new technologies and also, at some point, use them for play or searching information (pictures in this case) Learning to learn: they will create so many materials to work the senses. Social and civic competences: they will need to work in groups and collaborate so they will be developing also this competence, as they have to do it with respect. Initiative and entrepreneuship: in order to do some activities, they need to take the initiative, they need to evaluate other team work using a reflective criterial. Cultural awareness: as at the end of the unit will be a session to talk about the differences of humans: some people are blind and dont have the sense of sight but normally they have others much better developed than us (touch- they read with their fingers)

Step 5: ContentThis unit will include some musical aspects when we work on the sense of hearing and we will develop some artistic technics as well. Music: when we work the sense of hearing we will listen and play different instruments and classifying them according to their intensity (very soft, soft, loud, very loud). Arts and crafts: We will create a poster where they will combine pictures and short sentences. They will need to be creative, organized, well-planned and of course, do it accurately. Also, we will do other activities that require manipulative materials and do some real representations with them.

Steps 6: Soft Skills. I will include these soft skills in my unit plan: Teamwork Sharing Creating Exposing ideas Identifying Evaluating their own work and others Making assumptions Experimenting
