STATEMENT OF GOALS AND CHOICES

Page 13: Tuesday March 7th - End of Project 2, Beginning of Project 3

STATEMENT OF GOALS AND CHOICESThis is the opportunity to explain to me what you chose to do in your project. This means, if things don’t go quite to plan with the technology, or anything else, you can still receive a good grade. You need to justify and explain your choices to me. It needs to go beyond “I included sound effects that matched the sounds in my story”. WHY did you do this? It requires some time to think about choices.

Page 14: Tuesday March 7th - End of Project 2, Beginning of Project 3

STATEMENT OF GOALS AND CHOICES Describe your goals for this project. What, specifically, is this piece trying to accomplish--above and beyond satisfying the minimum requirements outlined in the task description? In other words, what work does, or might, this piece do? Think about audience and purpose.

What does your essay communicate through audio that it doesn’t through print? How would a listener interact with your essay compared to a reader?

What audio have you chosen to include, and why? This can be background music, sounds effects and/or your voice quality.

What rhetorical choices have you made in your essay? What feedback from me or your peers have you used? What feedback have you not used? Why did you decide not to? Where did you fail in this project? How did you overcome this, or what have you learned for the future?

What writing skills did you use during the course of this project? What can you do better now than you could do before? How has your thinking about writing changed or grown during the course of this project?

What rhetorical choices have you made in your essay? I focused mainly on using pathos to engage my reader in the story. I used… (certain language, voice quality etc.) What feedback from me or your peers have you used? What feedback have you not used? Why did you decide not to? Where did you fail in this project? How did you overcome this, or what have you learned for the future? I failed in my use of transition music. At the time, I thought it sounded pretty good but within the context of the essay, it sounded odd and space-y. I didn’t change this as I didn’t have time, but I learned that I need to allow more time in future for my English projects. The reason I chose that music was I was running out of time.

What writing skills did you use during the course of this project? What can you do better now than you could do before? How has your thinking about writing changed or grown during the course of this project?
