Create a work of art that embodies any important idea or concept from the books you’ve read about your decade. Do not use pencil. Write an 8-10 sentence paragraph explaining the theme/idea and how your piece of art relates to it.

Find several songs (at least 3) you think reflect an important message from your selected decade. Print the lyrics to the song. In paragraph form, explain the significance of each song to the decade (3, 6-8 sentence paragraphs). Be sure to use specific lines from the song.

Using a book of proverbs or quotations, find at least 6 to 8 that you feel reflect an important theme or set of beliefs from your chosen time period. Visually display the theme and place the quotes around it. Be sure to include attributions for your quotes.

Consider at least three settings that were important to the person you are researching or the decade, represent these setting visually and write an 8-10 sentence paragraph (total) explaining their importance.

Create a map of a key place during your chosen decade or person’s life. Do not use pencil. Find a way to help us understand why this place was so significant to the time period and/or the person’s life.

Using a program like Inspiration, create a timeline for key dates and events in your person’s life or for the decade you are researching. You should include at least 8-10 events with brief descriptions, visuals, and dates.

Write a diary entry from the perspective of the historical person you are researching. This entry should be about an important decision or moment in his/her life and details his/her thoughts about it. The entry must give the reader insight into my mindset/character of this person.

Make a collage that represents the historical person you are researching. Use at least 8-10 drawings and/or pictures. These images should not be of the person, but represent their personality traits and key moments in their life. Do not use pencil. Words/quotes can be used in addition to images.

Write a poem about the historical person you are researching. Be sure to include important personality traits, key accomplishments and/or important events. Your poem must be a minimum of 8-10 lines and include various poetic devices, i.e., imagery, figurative language, hyperbole, etc.

Dear Diary,

Today was a great day. Today I performed at Motown and they loved me! They called me “the little boy wonder.” They did confess though that it wasn’t really my singing that blew them away,, but my harmonica playing. When I walked in there I was nervous, but when Barry Gordy, the founder of Motown, said he loved it, I knew my musical career had just begun.

The Iron Horse

People called him the Iron HorseBut then he died, a very young steed

With everything coming for himHe fell on his hoof

With many crowns and awardsHis jockey weeping for days

Losing the most competitive horse on earth

But most importantlyA friend

When asked what would be remembered of him

Not one remarked on his physical skills

But solely on one aspectHis kindness

His generosityHis love

That steed’s name was Lou Gehrig

Kurt Cobain

Born With PeaceStained with broken hearts, blood

and greaseDisownment and a dead wishA rebel was born in the mist

Music and spirit guided his wayLeaving home a price to pay

Writing about the past and sorrow Writing about peace, the future

and tomorrowAll the fame and depression

Finally lead to his last session

AAssalamu alaikum, it is i once again, Omar bin al Khattab. I am currently opening the lands of Iraq against the Persians now on the year 634AD (37). As I lead and enforce my armies in conquest of new land I am being fair to the ones of other religions in our territories. They are known as the people of the covenant. These people have total religious freedom to say, do and pray in whatever way they desire. I look to let these people be citizens but they pay a small fair called jizya (19 - 20). My promise to the people of all the lands under our rule is the they will be under humble and just governers, not tyrants. As for the governers whom break the code of leadership will be punished or removed from office to assure peace to the muslims and non-muslims of the land.

II have officially retired from the major leagues. It is1977. I now still currently work in the Braves organization. As I said, “If the home run record gives me more power to inspire children-and I know it does-then the ordeal was worth every moment of sleep I lost and every hurt I felt from every hate letter"(90). I now give money to many charities to help African Americans become equal in the community.
