• The focus of systematic Instructional planning is the student or the learner.

1. Define the Objectives

• Indicates the goal or aim.

• Instruction begins with the definition of Instructional Objectives that consider the learners’ needs, interests and readiness.

• On the basis of these objectives, the teacher selects the appropriate teaching methods to be used and, in turn, based on the teaching method selected, chooses also appropriate learning experiences and appropriate materials, equipment and facilities.

2. Choose Appropriate Methods

• It must be dependent on the Learning Objectives.

• The strategic method or learning methodology is based on the nature of the learner .

3. Choose Appropriate Experiences

• It is important for the teachers to decide specific activities which are related to the instruction.

• Learning Activities that are dependent and related to the subject matter and to the teaching method to be used.

4. Select materials, equipments, and facilities

• It depends upon the activity or learning experiences to be conducted or implemented.

• The use of learning materials, equipment and facilities necessities assigning the appropriate personnel to assist the teacher and defining the role of any personnel involved in the preparation, setting and returning of these learning resources.

5. Assign Personnel Roles

• These can be the Librarian, facilitator, tour guides and the like.

• This should be done ahead of time to have a good flow of discussion, an organized and effective instruction.

6. Implement the Instruction

• Carrying out or Executing teaching instruction.

• Application of the previous steps (From defining the objectives to assigning personnel roles)

7. Evaluate Outcomes

• This is done to determine if the learning objectives are met. This is through conducting seatwork, exercises, group activity and the like to determine the extent of the learning outcome.

• From the evaluation results, the teacher will know if it is now possible to proceed to the next lesson going through the same cycle once more or there is a need to have a remedial session so that no learners will be left behind.

8. Refine the Process

• It is used if the Learning Objectives are not met.

• The teacher should device plans (remedial, tutorial or give more examples) for the learners to fully understand the lesson.

• It is dependent on the outcome.

The phases or elements are connected to one another. If one element or one phase of the instructional process fails, the outcome which is learning is adversely affected. The attainment of the learning is dependent on the synergy of all elements and of all actors involve in the process.
