President John F. Kennedy wanted NASA and other space programs to try to get to the moon. The objectives of Project Apollo were to advance technology, to be ahead in space explorations, to go up to the moon and experiment, and to make man’s work in the lunar environment.

Apollo 15

David Scott, James Irwin, and Alfred Worden flew up into space on July 1971. They landed on Hadley Apennine region. James Irwin tested driving the Lunar Roving Vehicle. The shadow comes from the Lunar Module “Falcon” . Astronaut David Scott took the picture.

Apollo 11

Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, Edward Aldrin were the astronauts involved. The mission of Apollo 11 was to successfully land on the moon. This was the first lunar landing. They stayed for 21.6 hours. They landed on the Sea of Tranquility. Neil Armstrong took this picture of Edward Aldrin walking on the moon. As you can tell this mission was successful.

Apollo 17

Eugene Cernan, Ronald Evans, Harrison Schmitt were the astronauts involved. The mission of Apollo 17 was to collect data and moon rocks. They used the battery powered Lunar Rover. This mission was successful.
