Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry allows the reader to feal like their mother died and father had not come back from the woods.In the beginning Helena had come to the field of passing the day before her mother had died to watch her mothers spirit leave.To add on she was planning on building a house on a garden but Vandara would not allow it.She heard that a man went in the woods and had not come back because of the beast.
