Aims

- The SDI-EDU project aims to transfer a former experience from EU research projects dealing with Spatial Data Infrastructure and spatial planning (PLAN4ALL, HUMBOLDT or NATURNET REDIME) towards planners in European Regions and municipalities.

- The SDI-EDU project uses innovative educational methods which combine methods of distance vocational training, e-learning and knowledge sharing.

- This functionality allows the transfer experience about the concept of SDI in spatial planning purposes

2- To transfer a former experience2- To transfer a former experience

SDI-EDU project is based on methods approuved in the Humboldt and Naturnet Redime projects.

First step: State of Art A creation of Collaboration for the realization. Αnalysis of examples which have a relation with the creation of

SDI based on INSPIRE directive rules. • Αnalysis of the available tools and data sources. • Material Preparation from previous experiences , tools and data

that they can be implemented in the SDI-EDU project.

Second step: Creation of a questionnaire diffused in different organizations (120 in 7 partners countries)

=> Questionnaire permits to identify what are the interests of the Spatial Planners in relation with a possible training content.

It will realize training sessions for the spatial planners and it will contain the 17 following lessons:

1) Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) – the importance, awareness, its role in planning processes

2) INSPIRE directive and implementing mechanisms (IR ...)3) National INSPIRE transposition4) INSPIRE development and innovations in European projects (Plan4All,

SDI-EDU) – what exactly: tools, techniques, special applicative user and administrative GI knowledge, user skills

5) INSPIRE impacts in national context generally, in given country

5-7 May 2011Ohrid - Macedoniawww.iceird.org

6) INSPIRE implementation into the national environment (larger than SDI with respect toplanning practice and rules)

7) Legal rules, acts, normative, methodological institutes and processes in given country

8) Metainformation, catalogues in / for spatial planning – generally, illustrative learning cases

9) Spatial data – INSPIRE approach for spatial planning – generally, with respect to learning cases base on good practice understandable to the audienceind power stations)

10) Software tools directly useable for spatial planners – SDI-EDU teaching environment in accord to existing LMSs

11) What to do with the existing spatial data in planning to be INSPIRE compliant? To be useable for upcoming tasks and SP objectives in EU, in given country?

Page 13: SDI-EDU project at ICEIRD2011

5-7 May 2011Ohrid - Macedoniawww.iceird.org

12) How to find, evaluate, select, and use the existing heterogeneous spatial data and metadata?

(First orientation for users)13) How to create new spatial planning metainformation to be INSPIRE

compliant?14) How to manage and improve the already existing metadata to be

INSPIRE compliant?15) How to create new spatial planning data to be INSPIRE compliant?16) What does a geodata harmonisation mean? How to realise it in

Spatial Planning?17) Special case based on hot-topics in given country – to get the

interests of our key target groups

3- Use of innovative methods for training3- Use of innovative methods for training

In the context of the SDI-EDU project, some specific tools are used in the training sessions.

They come from the computer sciences and Information Technology in order to transfer experience and capabilities.
