Welcome to Salva, Romania!

Salva is a village in Bistriţa-Năsăud County, Transilvania, in Nord-Est of Romania.

Our village is located in a tourist area known for its brand Dracula,  at 150 km from Cluj-Napoca International Airport.

It is composed of a single village, Salva.

It is famous for its workshops of traditional crafts, costumes and production of cultural and artistic activities in the country and abroad.

OUR SCHOOLIn our school are enrolled 240 pupils ages between 3 and 14 in three cycles of education, pre-primary, primary and secondary, guided by 20 teachers. Our children come from rural areas with socio-economic problems.Most children come from families belonging to lower middle and middle class because parents work in agriculture, some are immigrants in Spain , Italy, UK and the children remained in the care of grandparents or other relatives.

The school consists of two school buildings and a sports yard.The new building hosts classes from pre-primary and primary education and it was completely rebuilt in 2007. In the old building, with classes V th-VIII th form, there are 15 classrooms, 3 laboratories, an R & D space, the teachers' room, the principal’s office and the secretary’s office, a gym and a little protocal hall. The computer lab is equipped with nine computers connected to the Internet. The Centre for documentation and information  offers space for a reading room, a multimedia room and a library with the educational offer in electronic and physical support, and other modern facilities.

OUR SCHOOLWorking with pupils curriculum is based on National Curriculum Education implemented in 2008.In our school are studying English as first foreign language from pre-primary cycle and in secondary cycle French as sec-ond foreign language.Our school developing a Comenius project for secondary level, age group 11-14 years( We chose friendship!)( 2009-2011) and a Comenius project for kindergarten level ( Lullabies- universal language of love( 2010-2012).It is the only school in rural areas who obtain the certificate by the European School in session 2013.

ROMANIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM

Pre- University Level is structured in 4 cycles:1.Kindergarten composed of 3 or 4 grades2.Primary school comprises two 4-grade periods - Elementary school (0-IV) - Gymnasium (V-VIII)3.High School- 4 or 5 grades (grades IX to XII/XIII)Vocational education, which can continue or supplant High School, prepares students for careers that are based on practical activities.

Higher educational is organized according to the principles of the Bologna process, which aims at the construction of the European higher education area. It has the following 4 components:Bachelor (licenta)- 3 years in most disciplines (as of 2005)Master (masterat)- 2 years in most disciplines (as of 2008)Doctorate (doctorat)- at least 3 years.Lifelong learning (formare continua), which includes postgrad-uate education occurring outside the Master/Doctorate Framework.

Public pre-university education (pre-primary, primary, secondary and post-secondary ,non-tertiary education) is part of the local decentralized public services and is subordinated to the Ministry of Education through the County School Inspectorates.

Traditional games offer children the opportunity to socialize, interact among themselves consume energy, to express the need for freedom and personality.The first step was the establishment of the project team and disseminate the goal, objectives and activities of the local community project in re-gional conferences and publishing articles in regional and national press.

STEP BY STEPPlay the game now at any age is the prerogative of the human being. We will pay relatively little attention to specific games mature for playful manifestation of infantile universe.The second step was to invite grandparents and parents dressed in traditional clothes in school activities for description of traditional games and toys from their childhood. Local research by school teachers regarding the content and methods of local traditional game rules specific to our region.

The involvement of a large number of children, grandparents, teachers in project activities.Exploration potential for traditional rural culture.Implementation of two previous Comenius projects and many eTwinning projects.Good collaboration with local and regional authorities.Increasing thematic activities with the project topic.

WEAKNESSESLow levels of endowment of the institution with digital technology.Low levels of English language on teachersProject activities will be conducted as extracurricular activities in secondary school because the curriculum.Lack of time.Collaboration with the National Agency, the absence of the grant project.

OPPORTUNITIESInternet access facilitates the organization of videoconferences and virtual mobility.Diversification school activities and involvement of parents and grandparents with students and teachers in conducting and preparing them.Increase school performance through the involvement of all the educational factors in the educational process -educa-tion.Complex personality development of children through their involvement in project activities, competitions, festivals, dramatizations, research, non-formal methods, IT activities.

THREATSCurrent geopolitical context in Europe.Structuring the project budget on lump sums.Failure of activities, products ,lack of financing from budget (book).Increased emotional instability of students, teachers to conduct activities with deadlines.Bureaucracy required by the regional school inspectorates and the National Agency.
