Page 10: Safe Social Media educational project at a glance

Summary

• In our opinion, however, there are four critical elements:

1. children often use new technologies with little awareness;

2. parents often do not have adequate levels of expertise on new media and struggle to play an effective education;

Page 11: Safe Social Media educational project at a glance

3. the school does not always have the skills to be able to give very own contribution.

4. lack of ability on the part of teachers to take advantage of the new technologies in the learning process.

Summary

•The usefulness of carrying out an educational program for teachers is that we will provide theoretical and practical tools for the education of students and families today and for those who attend classes in the future of these teachers.

• "It's a good way to get into the world where many children don't have adult models: the use of internet, the social network, and also, the videogames which are often unfamiliar to the adults".

The opinion of teachers

Page 30: Safe Social Media educational project at a glance

• "I think it was a great opportunity to have participated in the project Safe Social Media. It made the children understand the dangers they are exposed to in using the social media inappropriately. It also made them assume certain risks with respect to their "privacy". It allowed the teachers to see the children in a more complete way, being an area unknown to the teachers, and yet with a big influence on the children. It's a world which frequently escapes us. I've seen many boys unmotivated in class, absent-minded, and sometimes, I dare say, hooked on these topics, and we don't know how to handle the situation".

Page 31: Safe Social Media educational project at a glance

• “What has been appreciated very well is the positive tone of the sessions, and the continued reference and invitation to a dialogue between the children and their parents and teachers. The sessions made them see ICT as allies towards an integral educational formation. Encouraging the correct use of the social media permits the children to discover, to develop and to grow in positive values such as sense of responsibility, conscience, maturity, solidarity, respect for others and intimacy”.

The opinion of manangers

Francisco Ruiz, Family Safety Center, Google
